I am so sad right now... I miss my cat. I took him to the vet last night to have him fixed (not my idea, but the wife's, I would never have that done to a male animal. Just a personal thing).

They said I could bring him home today after three. I even called to check this morning and they assured me I could get him this afternoon.

I got there and they said, "oh no, we keep them at least one night afterwards." Say what? Do you have any idea how upset I have been all day? One lady did, she was upset with me, and let me see him.

My poor little guy could hardly stand up but he did his best to come see me.

And for the trolls, fuck you. Yes a 40+ year old, disabled veteran can become upset over a cat. Keep it to yourselves okay?

I'm another one of those people who is a sucker for cats. I know what you're going through. I almost lost my kitty 2 years ago to what could have been an infection or poisoning (I lean more towards poisoning since my neighbors were bastards). Make sure you pamper him when he gets home :)

i'm a dog person and i almost lost my dog a few years ago.. she had some weird infection and it almost killed her... she was being kept at the vet and they didnt want to let me in to see her (during hours and all).. and i threw a fit and said that maybe it would help her feel better... like she wasnt just left alone there to die.. needless to say, after my bitching (there was a room full of people there waiting to see the vet).. they let me in to see my dog.. they said she probably wouldnt move, let alone see me.. but by the time i left, she was jumping, barking, whining.. the works.... man did their chins ever dig a hole in the ground.. the next day i was gonna go back and visit her again, and the vet decided she could come home cuz of how much my being there affected her.. they said she sat in the cage whining and being all jittery all night

*hugs and kisses* you'll survive the night without your cat.. i promise

My cat

My cat Humphery died about 6 months ago unexpectedly, I was very very upset. I think people underestimate the effect that a pets death or illness on people.

Dog Person, but know the feeling

I have a black lab who I openly refer to as "my son". I travel for work quite a bit and on the nights I return late and he's still at the kennel it is a very weird feeling being alone in the house. Don't even want to think about "his time", I may have to be seriously sedated when that happens!

I had him fixed real quick, didn't want to go through having my leg humped!

aawwwwwww teacher. I feel for you. I've never heard of a cat being kept overnight for a vasectomy (did I spell that correctly?)

I'm sure he'll feel a lot better at home. :)

Ex-Limey

I feel guilty for laughing on a sad thread. But your signature cracked me up! Is he on reruns?

I went through that with my cats (both male and female).

They hated every human in the house for about a week after it was done, but they got over it.

Spoil him rotten when he gets home. Let him do things you normally wouldn't let him do (ie: sleep on the couch, eat from the table, etc...) just to let him know that even though you sent him to the "bad place" and his gonads hurt, you still love him.

I was a mean mommy

I always have my pets "fixed". I use the term cause if they hadn't been neutered they'd be broken for being obnoxious (why are my animals always hornier than my bedmates?).

I had one cat declawed and neutered at the same go...poor guy didn't know which end to limp with and you shoulda seen him try to lay down. I felt horrible for a week, it was still better than him destroying my house by clawing and spraying it.

Feel better soon to you and your little friend.

I went through the same thing with my little guy. Well, he's a big guy now. When I decided to get another cat to keep him company, I made sure she was already fixed before I got her.

I lost a wonderful cat a few years ago - he had diabetes. I had had him since I was 2 so it was pretty sad!!

I felt a similar feeling teacher, when I took my kitten to get declawed. Everytime I brought him home he's chew his stitches out .. so he ended up at the vet for a few weeks.. I was quite upset!!

Thanks everyone

2 hours and I can go get him. Needless to say I slept like shit last night. And I will have to explain to my principal why I took half a day off today.

I am not really a cat person, or a dog person. I love animals period. My huge husky Teddy Bear is right beside me on the floor as I type. He is upset that I took Charlie away and did not bring him home. My other tom cat, Pete, thinks it is great. Bet he gets pissed when Charlie comes home.

Growing up as a military brat my pets were the only thing that kept me sane. They were the one constant friend in my life. I could not imagine life with out a house full of animals.

2 hours (gritting teeth).

Yep he is home. Thank goodness. He is still acting a little doped up. But my baby is home. He sure had a lot to tell me. Talked for an hour about what they did to him.

All is well.
