Young people do not need to be indoctrinated. They need to be free to experiment with their looks and feelings.

Don't get me wrong, I do NOT condone anyone under 18 exploring sexual relations with anyone other than themselves and research information.

I do condone freedom of expression, clothing, hair, makeup, jewelry, etc. Parents and educators should be free to answer questions without bias, encouraging positive self-expression and body image.

She has a student who presents as gender neutral in school. Different name, accessories, etc.
The school does not admonish this. If fellow classmates inquires, shouldn't there be an avenue to address it? Without bias.

As for students wanting to be called different names from their birth certificate, it's been permitted forever. Why stop now?

One of the best things about being a parent is you can watch cartoons and play with toys without anyone assuming you’re a weirdo. Sadly my kids are aging out of Disney movies, but I’ll still make them sit through Elemental because it looks like fun. At least my daughter is stoked for Barbie.

Kids need to be shown everything and taught to think critically. Teaching that people exist that aren't like them is important.

My daughter was born 1990.
Her dad was a "crossdresser" when transgender was only for freaks and entertainers.
We hid this from her.
When she was in college, 2008 to 2011, we should have addressed it.
When she moved back home in 2017, we totally blew it by not addressing it.
She handled her dad's decision to begin transition much better than I did.
And she blamed me for keeping him in the closet.

We all know the landscape changed for transgender and the entire LGBTQA+ community since 2012. We should have changed with it.

And now, I suffer. She and her dad do not.
