Poll: Trump support eroding among GOP voters

I think his comments about Ron DeSantis were wrong. I will still vote for him because he knows money, doesn’t cave to Twitter twits and our enemies believe he will harm them. He is less likable now as a person, but he knows what to do to run the country.

If he announces his candidacy by November 14 as many suspect, will it shore up his support or erode it further?

Probably neither. He's the ultimate known quantity at this point, and the thing about the anti-Trump Republicans of 2015 is that they've either fallen in line or left the party.

The big unanswered question for me is what would happen if someone of stature was willing to take him on, and it wouldn't even have to be on personal or ideological grounds like you'd see from a Democrat: just say, "Look, he's run twice already and lost the popular vote both times, the second time by a wider margin. Also, he'll be 78 on Election Day 2024. Why are we doing this again?" But everyone is afraid. I mean, Trump is out there saying racist things about McConnell's wife, who was in his Cabinet, and Mitch won't say a peep about it.

I doubt the Republicans are even going to hold presidential primaries in 2024.

Who will be the Democratic nominee?

I suspect Trump is going to rip the GOP in two.
…well…worse than before.

I expect he won't be alive in 2024. If he lives, his vax push is the colossal error that finishes him.

I agree

BUT

I hope he doesnt run, I dont think he will win
I like trump policies, find someone with like ideas but not so divisive. Let’s see what pubs do if they win both chambers. Past history tells me the chicken shit pubs will squander another opportunity to influence policy and do investigations on border security and all the other crap investigations like the Biden crime family. Need to get rid of Mitch McC as maj leader. for starters

If Biden wants the nomination, he's going to get it, though I'm not sure that's a good idea. There will be opposition, but as of now I doubt it's going to be anyone more substantive than career loser Nina Turner.

Incumbents only lose when they're either deep in scandal (sometimes not even then) or way out of touch with their base on an extremely important issue. Biden is OK on both fronts.

I've seen some things about Biden gearing up for another run, and while it's probably going to happen, it's also true that politicians tend to say they're going to run right up until the moment they announce they're retiring. Dianne Feinstein is still talking about making another Senate run in 2024, even though it's not remotely believable.

Agreed, I hope Desantis stands his ground and opposes him in 2024. I'd vote for RD, but not Trump.
TBH if Gabbard stays indy the next two years and runs as one I'll vote for her, because I'm tired of both parties, and I see no end in site for the Dems as far as catering to the lunatic woke and ignoring the rest of their base.

I like Gabbard. I don’t know who I’ll support for 2024 yet. I tend to vote for the Libertarian candidate despite making fun of Libertarians as a whole. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My guess is Biden announces that he will not seek a second term shortly after the midterms. Perhaps before Christmas. If he doesn’t, there will definitely be a serious challenge. Carter was challenged and wounded by Kennedy. Bush was wounded by Pat Buchanan. Don’t know who would be Biden’s biggest threat. No shortage of ambitious and angry Dems.

I voted Jo Jorgensen in 2020.
I hate that line that if you don't vote Dem/GOP you're helping....fill in the blank. I'm registered as an independent so its not like they have my vote to begin with.

Biden's barely going to hold up til 2024 health wise, there's no way he thinks he could do four more years beyond that.
What's hurting the Dems is their plan was Biden til 24, the Harris runs. Now that Harris has proved herself to be a nightmare, they need to find someone else, and if that someone is Newsome...ugh.

Why would the party allow that when they have a controlled puppet? They may have disbanded their elitist Super Delegates but they still control it all. They’ll crush any opposition on behalf of their mouthpiece.

Gabbard supports “Medicare for All.” Would not fly with gop voters.

I don’t support that.
But I still like her.
I have no idea what will fly with GOP voters. I once thought Trump wouldn’t. Medicare for All cuts less of a controversial figure than him.

Better than what the elitism, snobbery and distain Democrats have to offer.
I definitely think this is something to discuss.

When the blue wall fell in 2016, I wasn’t surprised. People who feel left behind, whether they are or not in actuality, will follow a Populist. Trump still reaches that crowd. I’m just not sure how large that group is anymore.

Do you hear yourself???

Medicare for all is the most leftist woke policy of them all.

*nods AND chuckles*

And?
My opinion is that it’s the lesser controversy. I see it more likely to pass than for Trump to get re-elected.
