I'm anal that way myself, dampy. :D
I reply as soon as I get it and PM as soon as I notice the new PC. The only time I don't is when I can't cuz they haven't told me who they are. *bitching to self* I hate it when they're anon.
Oh, thank you for coming out with your shameful secret. I'm glad I'm not alone in my madness. ;)

With all the work I have on my Author's page, 150+ submissions I find it difficult to keep tabs on th PC. I'd like to thank everyone who comments that is not anonymous. As someone mentioned earlier in this thread, I wish the same about Lit having a way to inform you of the PCs that were made on your writing. As for the feedback sent via email/pm, I think it's rather shitty of an author who doesn't respond to constructive/positive feedback when their readers have left a contact address. Really, what is the point of checking that little box allowing feedback if your not going to have the courtesy to at least say thank you to someone who has taken their time read and send feedback?

well, the feedback I get into my email - there only ever were three or four, and I replied those right away. As for PCs there aren't many either, and most are by people I "know" - i.e. for example people I have talked to a lot in the German forum, etc. A few times there was a nice PC by someone I didn't know, and I sent them a PM to that...

Hear hear! It's understandable if you're getting several hundred. *pausing for a wet dream* Otherwise, it seems rude.

I PM the PC's as well, as soon as I know they are there, and of course the feedbacks as well. I look at it - as so many things in life! - on the dog training model. If I want to see the behavior again, I must reward it. :D

Seriously? Do you remember which one?

I try to keep up with the PC's, but like others on the thread, I wish that Lit sent authors a notice when a PC is left so that we would know.

I'm extremely sorry to have missed it, and grateful that you were so kind as to leave one!

It can be difficult, especially for the more prolific writers who have many many stories here.
Like Stella I also will leave a PC, especially to fellow Ah'ers both to comment on the story and as an I was here and cared enough to vote/pc kind of thing.
To me that is just polite to let the author know you had feelings for his work.

That makes it important to do your best to return pc's and emails if you can to thank the person for taking the time and effort to tell you their thoughts.
IMHO

* But then again I am so new and unprolific that 'What do I know".*

I think it was some contest story, with lots or PCs so I am not surprised you didn't notice there was a new one (and I read it long after the contest in question)... It was a horror story. Anyway, as I don't always reply to PCs I don't really expect replies to my PCs either... Just seeing your post here made me feel kind of obligated to reply to it, hehe... anyway, it was a great story, one of the ones I enjoyed best here...

I don't usually reply to public comments. I have so many submissions, I can't keep up with what gets new ones.

Feedback to email, I do my best to get to, but like I said earlier, it does take awhile sometimes. When I have new stories up, I get quite a few at a time.

Thanks very much, Munachi! I will go look it up. I only have one contest entry, so I know which it must be. And you know, you're right ... once the contest was over, it was like the story dropped right off of my radar.

I even PM people who leave PCs. Please don't throw anything at me. I think it's a disease or something. Feel free to leave me out of this and continue.
Why not do that? They could have left anonymous PCs, so I assume they would welcome a PM, and treat those the same as an email, except they are even nicer, because they are telling the world. (Leaving out the 2-3 that left bad PCs. I have only ever deleted one, I think - the one that triggered that "immoral story" thread. I deleted because it would have made readers who enjoyed the story feel bad.)

Email feedback . . . within a couple of days if possible.
Public comment feedback . . . sometimes I forget to entirely. I'm trying to get better about it.

i usually only reply to the feedback that's sent to my email... there are just too many stories on my main page and i can't always figure out what's a new comment on a story and what isn't.

when i respond to the email feedback it's right away or not at all, although usually i try to at least thank people who've written me. it does, on occasion, have an annoying side fact thta they will continue writing me, usually asking for things like pictures or something. or, once, someone sent me his personal webpage with lots of naked pictures of him. on the other hand i've met a couple great people that way!

feedback is so important to me... maybe i should start trying to get back to most of the people who leave comments.
*sigh* i dont think i'll go back and try to re-do that. lol. just start from the now!

Come on out, Carson. It's probably a bit crowded under that table.

Maybe you should ask who's sitting at the table before asking him to come back out? He might have naughty reasons for going under there.
