If it feedback that has a return, either PM or email. Usually fairly quickly within a day or two.
For what it's worth.
Not that I get a ton, so it's usually not a big thing to keep up with

In the past, almost immediately. When I first came on Lit, I was posting stories, and didn't go in the forums. Then I joined the AH and although I spent a lot of time on line, I still was pretty good at replying to feedback, usually within a week.

Of late......I've been distracted. And I've only posted one poem in the last 12 months, feedback in those 12 months has been very sparse. I currently have 4 feedbacks in my e-mail to which I need to reply.

This thread has been a kick in the conscience. I'll reply today. Thank you.

I try to respond as soon as possible to let the reader know that I appreciated their comments. Sometimes it may take me a couple of days. Montana Summer 07 was a chore responding to, in the first two weeks I had about 250 emails about it...and still get one to two emails a day about it...

It depends on my writing productivity.

The more productive, the faster I reply back.

You would think it would be the oppossite, but it's not.

sincerely,

I want another poll: How often do you reply to feedback. When I reply, I reply as soon as I see the thing. But I sadly, don't reply to even half. And even more sadly, I can't remember getting much lately.

See, thats the stuff. Now I'm starting to feel better, none of this 24-48 hour stuff! :D

I even PM people who leave PCs. Please don't throw anything at me. I think it's a disease or something. Feel free to leave me out of this and continue.

Immediatey usually, maximum 48 hours if I'm busy.

You have to wait for the swelled head to go down.

Erratic

Feedback - I try if there is a return address. I'm not always consistent. It depends on pressure of RL events. If a week or so has gone by I don't respond.

PCs. Depends if I see them. With over 100 stories I'm not sure of the total of PCs on each one so if a PC is left I may not notice.

I make resolutions to respond at least to all identifiable feedback but if the Muses have their whips out nothing gets in the way of writing.

Apologies to those I haven't responded to. Your remarks/comments are appreciated even if they are rude, derogatory and offensive. It shows that you care...

I reply to feedback as soon as I see it, or I tend to space & forget.
I try to keep up w/PC's but don't always catch new ones.
One person sent me really nice feedback, but never mentioned which story
they'd read.

Like Matriarch, at first I replied immediately.

Now, uh, I would have to check "never." I suck.

If my brain isn't burning with story ferver, I try to get it out right away, otherwise they tend to sit in my email box until I get tired of looking at them and they are too old to answer anyway. I got bogged down after some of my stories seemed to get more feedback then others and have tried to learn my lesson. Sometimes it's a relief to see the "Anonymous" in the email address. I still get my mental ego pleasure strokes and don't have to do anything about it.

Og, your avatar is what we young people call way cool.

I get them pretty often, so I don't answer very quickly. Usually they pile up until I get tired of looking at them and then I reply with a "sorry for the delay". If they are older than a month though, I don't reply.

That's 'cause Og IS way cool.

Response to feedback. I try to respond as soon as possible after getting feedback. That's usually no problem with a contest entry, but there can be a long delay for stories I've submitted some time in the past.

Example: Last summer, Stella left feedback to one of my stories. Even though I try to check the stats of my old stories ever so often, I missed her message until a few weeks ago.

I wish there was a way to be notified when a story gets feedback.

I reply as soon as I notice if I can.

I don't get huge numbers of comments, best I've done so far is a little over fifty, so it's not that hard.

I have missed comments occasionally though.

I believe you're talking about public comments not feedback.

If it's a, "Thank you for your kind words" -- immediately. If the feedback/comments were more involved, I might take a day so I can give a better response.

Well, I leave public feedback for other readers to read, really, but that's a good point. If I want to make sure YOU read it, I'll PM you or send anon feedback- with my email address.:)
It kills me sometimes, when I get an anon from someone who has had something really insightful- or really sexy- or really stupid- to say, and I can't answer them!

As quickly as I may. that's generally withing 24 hours, but can be weks if I am out of pocket or just nor feeling well.

I'm anal that way myself, dampy. :D
I reply as soon as I get it and PM as soon as I notice the new PC. The only time I don't is when I can't cuz they haven't told me who they are. *bitching to self* I hate it when they're anon.
