I know many people dislike stories that are pure sex, but honestly sometimes I'd like to read a story that follows as such: a hot girl does it with a guy, the end. The thing is though that many of these stories are poorly written.

I was walking home with my girlfriend. Damn, she was smokin'! She was around a 36C, with a hot ass and blah blah blah.

Now, who here would like a sex sex sex story that was well-written? For example:

Two people were walking home. They were obviously a couple, since they were holding hands. The girl was tall and tan, with blonde hair and breasts that were around a size C.

I have the urge to write an incrediby sex-crazed story. By that I mean more emphasis on the sex rather than the storyline, like a porn movie, sort of. I can imagine something like that could be well-written.

I completely understand what you mean. Sometimes, I think porn writers get too artsy for their own good. (Not that I'm dissing artsy. I love art.) Ahem. But, still, every now and then, I just want to read something that doesn't dilly-dally with details and gets right down to sex with damn good descriptions.

Now, mind you, I'm not one to toot my own horn, but sometimes I write like that. I sometimes just have random sex occur in a story without a lot of explanation except that there is attraction and good sex. So, if you like lesbian stories, feel free to give me a read.

The fact is, a Pure Sex story cannot be a story. A "STORY" has a beginning where the characters in introduced, the setting is created, a middle where characters interact, tension is built and so on, and an ending that ties up all the loose danglies.

We Met. We Fucked. We Left. Just doesn't qualify. Where's the point?

That's basically what I mean. I think the best place for a story like that would either be Celebrities or Nonconcent/Reluctance, especially with celebrities that are basically sex goddesses, like Kendra Wilkinson for example. I'd just love to write a story about her being banged...

I don't think that really well-written porn has to have a point other than sex as the main point. I'm not saying leave out character, plot, setting, and movement. But, I'm saying I don't need to know the entire inner landscape of the person the story is about to enjoy the story. Sometimes, I get tired of reading porn (or anything else for that matter) that goes on for three pages about the main character's grocery shopping expedition before we figure out why or what the character is after or wants.

Right on. A story can have a begining, a conclusion, and a plot. The plot can be sex, and so on.

I don't think I would like it much. Maybe if I was 40 years younger, but not now. Hell, I even have to put out more effort on sex scenes in my own stories than I do in the rest of it, so probably I'm not a good judge of this question.

I read Black Lace Wicked Words anthologies and although these stories have strong characters and a hint of plot mostly they are sex stories. I love'em.

So yes I would and do read stories where the main drive of it is the sex itself.

Couldn't have said it better.

It's equivalent to the differences between a one-night-stand and making hot sweaty snugglebunnies with someone you know and care for.

Maybe fun to think about, but really, not that satisfying. It would leave me hungry.

Depending on my mood, a well-written sexual vignette is often just exactly what I'm looking for. Essentially what I look for in that kind of story is the story of what happens after mainstream authors fade to black as the bedroom door closes; I don't want or need even the "they were walking home and holding hands" build up, you can start with:

The deadbolt rasped into place as he locked the door. By the time he turned away from that minor task, she was naked, her clothes strewn haphazaradly around the foyer...

I write a LOT of PWP-- (Plot? What Plot?) and I go looking specifically for it quite often. But unless the characters are strong and there is some kind of tension, it won't get me off, so I write it that way.
And you are right, the sex itself can be the plot.

Yes, since I often write them as well.

Stella's right, as usual. Sex itself can be a plot.

I've read vignettes here that met that bill (and I thought they were great). The example doesn't meet the bill though. I good story doesn't start off with physical description of background on the characters.

The example that Weird Harold gave shows promise of a good story

ditto this.

I've tried to write them but the plot keeps getting in the way. That or the characters.

I submitted a few to the erotic coupling category. I kind of thought that was what that category was all about. My Memory of series has good to fair scores but the vote number and especially the comments are very low. I guess it's hard to remember to vote and comment after you get off. :)

Ditto that!

Start in the middle of the action, if you're going to do it that way;

"My girlfriend pulled her teeshirt up over her head, showing me the the most beautiful tits in the universe."

I mean-- who cares about walking home? Unless you can start the action right then.

"I was walking home with my girlfriend. I knew the evening would be smokin' when she took my hand and placed it on her round and rolling arse. Her fingers urged mine to squeeze hard, leaving me in no doubt of what she wanted."

I absolutely agree. C'mon, Harold, finish it. :D

Better yet, how about making it a contest. You provide the open lines and all entries have to finish the story in such a way as they see fit.

On that, I disagree somewhat, Stella.

I always include a little lead up, a little teasing and flirting, to build up the tension, so to speak.

That's how it often happens in real life.

You've got the advantage on me there, Rob, since I haven't dated in 40 years. :(

Yeah, and I like to start the teasing with her shirt off.

By the way, I just read one of the wisest peices of advice from an editor. Talking about novels as well as shorts, she said; "Start in the middle of the action, but not in the middle of the plot."
