Sometimes it takes a while to get an answer from Admin, so I'll try here first.


What is the current policy regarding works on other sites? What can or cannot be posted on the forums here? How does the promotional 'Support This Author' policy work?

You can post a link to your work outside Lit on your author bio page. This includes Patreon and other author support sites for those who want such things. But you can’t advertise such links in stories or on the forums. I think that’s correct anyway.

You retain full copyright of what you post to Literotica and you can post it anywhere else that you want as well. Everything I post here gets posted on other sites as well simultaneously (if not before it's released here).

My understanding:

Links to off-site stories in signatures are acceptable - couldn't give you a cite for that, but I have links in mine and I wouldn't have put them in without being reasonably sure it was permitted. Ditto for author profiles, but posting stories with a "see my profile for where you can buy this" is not accepted.

Authors who have stories on Literotica are permitted to promote their stories in this thread https://forum.literotica.com/thread...eir-books-for-literotica-authors-only.569279/ but not elsewhere in the forums.

That said, not all linking is promotion. Things like tagging, categorisation, voting etc. are frequent topics of discussion in this forum, and sometimes it's relevant to discuss how other sites handle these issues and how that works out for them. I've occasionally linked to my stories on another site in the course of that discussion - "this is how the tagging system works there" etc. - but I aim to only do that for purposes of discussion, not promotion.

(If I actually wanted to promote that site, linking to a story that people can just as easily find here seems like an inefficient way of doing it.)

That's my understanding too. I have book links in my Signature block, a bookshop link in my profile, and I've used the thread Bramble cites to promote individual books. That's it, though.

I believe it depends on the link. Like if it's a directly competing site or not. Such as I believe still linking asstr censors it. Last I checked, I think my link to my blog was censored too for some reason.
