Next Tuesday marks the beginning of the National Poetry Slam, in West Palm Beach, Florida! If you're in the area, I suggest you come out to see the bouts. Some of what you will hear might be bad, but as with any group of poets, you'll see talent, no-talent, and awe-inspiring work - and the day and late-night events are nothing to sneeze at, either! (You'll see me at the Erotica Slam, rocking a duet with my girlfriend! It's filthy and hysterical.)
I'm covering it as a photographer and organizational volunteer, so I won't be performing much (I'm saving it all up for the Individual World Poetry Slam in Berkeley, in October) but there's always a giant group of poets who're desperate to hear each other read.
If you're going to be in the area, send me a PM and we'll trade numbers and talk about it.
