Head to "User CP"
In the menu to the right, click on "Edit Options."
Under "Messaging & Notification," add a checkmark to "Enable Private Messaging"
You may want to add a checkmark to the box, "Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages"

You are now able to send and receive private messages.

Pretty much the same as any social media site, a I guess.

Go to the top left of the page, click on USER CP.

Run down the left side to where it says PRIVATE MESSAGES, then SEND PM. Click on that and you’re in. Fill it in and hit SUBMIT.

yet you have ICQ and AIM accounts? You claim you don't know how PMs work?
