Does anybody else feel like when people post "PM sent" on a tread it's like when someone leaves a voice mail to just say call me back? I can see the missed call, it doesn't make much sense to me.

I've always seen it as a a territorial marking so others know that the pm sender has made their move.

Agreed. Sometimes it feels like a dog peeing on a tree. And even though the tree already knows it's wet the dog barks to tell all the other dogs, "This is my tree, I peed on it."

But is the tree into golden showers? If so, it's a match made in heaven.

I thought people did that because they didn't get a fast enough (for them) response. Or maybe the person they sent it to doesn't have it set up to get that little pop-up alerting them of a new PM? I guess I never considered they might be trying to mark their territory.
