Plug Your Own Pet

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww. What a darling! I can't stand small dogs, except for Westies. They'll put their paws on your knees, laugh right up into your face and steal your heart every time!

These are my boys:
Awww, how precious. I love dogs of all sizes. I have two Westies, a lab mix (75 pounds) and a chow mix (65 pounds). I don't think I could ever have anything but Westies now though. They have spoiled me.

I guess I need to take pictures of the rest of the lot, but Bridget was just so sweet sleeping beside me this morning. Brodie, the other Westie is sitting on the back of my chair looking over my shoulder right now.

Sadly I can't have a pet of my own due to current living conditions. :( However my best friend has two of the most adorable yorkshire terriers going! Especially Bonnie who despite being a runt has enough energy for 6 dogs and always want to play!

If I ever manage to get a house of my own though, I'm determined to get a King Charles Cocker Spaniel because I think they're the cutest dogs going!

So sorry you can't have dogs. I don't know what I would do without mine. They've gotten me through some rough times.

I have a well cute Labrador. You could do ANYTHING to him, and he'd never ever dream of hurting you back. Not that I do annoy him, but he has such a kind heart, no other type dog (specially ones that could bite you ) seem to do that. Well I'm sure there are, but on average...

Can I just post pics of my kids? They're kind of like pets. Their noses get cold sometimes.

The problem really started when we named her. Capella, after the star in Auriga, the original idea was Procyan, in Canis Minor, seemed inappropriate to call a cat after the 'dog star'.

We got her when she was tiny, orphaned by her mother on a farm in Yorkshire. We took her home, fed her up, and shipped her to the vets.

"Fine young male, bring him back in six weeks and we'll neuter him."

Not only did we get his sex wrong, we gave him a girls name - then cut his balls off.

When he was tiny, I taught him to fight. Without a pack of brothers and sisters he would never learn to defend himself against the streetwise cats around our suburb. We played in the evenings, gradually he learnt to use his claws and what teeth were designed for, and for a while he was too small to do any serious damage.

He learnt.

He grew up.

He lies in wait for me behind cupboards, inside doorways, in bushes and the long grass.

My life is on a perpetual knife edge, I never know from which quarter the next assault will be launched, my arms and legs are torn with scratches and teeth marks particularly after I've been away for a few days. When I return home he won't come near me until he's had the opportunity to draw blood.

With my wife he's an absolute angel, content to curl in her lap and receive her caresses, but we all know he only does that to take my place.

He has no idea of how to meouw, he didn't live with other cats long enough to learn. Instead he chatters, mimicking human lip movement, rapid fluttering movements, chuntering through his teeth.

He's a tart with the school kids who pass along our path at the front of the house, sprawling belly up for tickles, no one in the family is permitted to do this (I don't mean laying on the path).

He drinks his water from the dripping tap in the bathroom, but only when his feet are as muddy as they possibly can be, and refuses to eat alone, he'd rather go hungry than eat by himself. His favourite food is chicken wings - however, these have to stalked and killed before eating, stalking a chicken wing involves hurling it around the house pretending it's still attached to the chicken, if you're visiting, never go barefoot.

He has no idea of personal hygene, except around what he mistakenly imagines are his balls, but will submit to occassional showers - because that's what we do.

Quite possibly his most revolting trait is to capture frogs, he rarely catches birds, doesn't understand the concept of needing to hide. We find frogs secreted all over the house, some have been there for a considerable time, you could use them as Frisby's. We always know, he carries guilt like a shield, finding them is another question.

No, I didn't scream, because he wasn't brown. For some reason it's the brown ones that make me all - Uhhh. Wait a minute. Never mind about that. Grasshoppers don't scare me at all. Nope, nada. You evil bitch.

Most big dogs are more patient than little ones. My two Westies are constantly trying to pick fights with the bigger two who just look at them like silly youngsters and go on about their business. Only occasionally do the big ones snap back or growl at them.

Neon, I want to see a pic of your wildcat. Do you have one? He sounds like an adorable monster... :D

This is one of my favorites of Brodie. He looks just like a person when he sits like that with his elbow propped on the arm of the chair.

I don't know any people quite that small...

( to Brodie, he is cute.)

No can do at the moment - Photo Library seems to have lost 4500 pictures. I do hope it is only teasing.
