<<--->>

The young magician sighed and brushed the twigs out of her long, dark hair with her hand as she walked, surverying the forest around her. The mossy ground was comfortable for the elves, and so many lived here, but these parts of the forest were still unsafe. She had found herself in a few rough scrapes in the Goblins before, but she had not lost a fight yet. Even so, nobody would wander around here unless they were looking for a fight.

Which is exactly what Shizura Relawell was doing.

The lovely young magician smiled and slapped her fist into her palm as her purple cloak billowed around her, framing her soft white clothing and attractive figure, still obvious despite her soft leather torso armor. Despite her young age of eighteen (and though she still looked sixteen or seventeen), she was a fledgling magician, and was hoping to find a few Goblins to take down.

That's what monsters were there for, of course. They were the scourge of the primal races, the races made by the Holy Power, Consciousness. The Lord of Darkness made monsters as a challenge for humanity, to make sure they did not get too strong or arrogant, and to help potential heroes rise to greatness, and inspire new feats of greatness among the people.

The pretty girl sighed as she thrust her hands in her pockets, her wooden mace dangling by her belt. Her equipment was cheap and her spells were not particularly strong, but she was well-rounded magician (spellwise, I mean. what did you think I meant?) and she knew she would do well fighting off these monsters.

Still, being a maiden in a forest was not the safest thing in the world.

Maybe it was time to find that town she had been looking for...

Kevin Wild

Kevin stumbled through the forest, brushing leaves and twigs from his shaggy brown hair. Bracnches scratched at his wide shoulders and tanned chest, and stones and roots bit into his bare feet. He looked down dismally at the ragged shorts he was wearing, tied together with a bit of rope, and sighed. He had worked hard to get a new suit of clothes, and this is what was left of them. He never should have stayed to watch the tavern girls dance. Now he was lost, and his head hurt. He was cold and alone. Wait . . . not alone.

A figure in a purple cloak was walking through the forest ahead of him. Maybe they could help him, or at least tell him where he was. Kevin stepped out into the cloaked figured path and waved cheerfully, shaggy hair (still with some leaves in it) falling in his eyes. Then he saw the figure closer.

It was a girl. She was really cute. Oh, no!

Got to keep running, got to figure out how to stop it. He turned, knowing he only had a few minutes to figure out something before the troll was upon him. Well think if you can’t stop it you have to outrun it. He continues to run, constantly losing ground. By the gods…transform me into something…a unicorn.

With that, producing a bright shimmering light, he begins to shift…feeling like he’s falling over and stumbling. He lands on all fours…no longer a man, but a horse…a unicorn to be exact. He glances back to the troll.

I don’t know how I did it…but I did…and I’m gone. And with that he begins to pull away from the troll. Going faster and faster, until tripping on a stone of some sort, stumbling, falling and landing flat on his side on the ground, he watches the troll approaching quickly. He let’s out a whinny as it approaches.

Making the same noise as he is quickly awakened from sleep, as his bed collapses below him. What the hell? He stumbles to his feet, looking around finding his room suddenly smaller. Finding a mirror, he spots the change and wonders how the hell this happened to him. He carefully makes his way out into the kitchen in the early morning light, hearing his mother in the kitchen.

Hearing a noise she turns, not expecting her son up this early. “Oh my.” Her eyes widen in surprise. “How did you get in here?” She raises her broom and tries to shoo the beast from the kitchen. “Get out of here.”

Oh man, she doesn’t know it’s me. “Mom, it’s me Logan.” He takes a step back as she raises the broom.

“Get out. Get out.” She raises the broom and swings it. His only option is to back up and find his way out of the house. Once outside the house, he is spotted by a few villagers and chased away as well into the surrounding forest. Figuring he’ll get no answers there if everyone keeps chasing him away, he’ll keep moving.

Well maybe I can figure this out or find someone that won’t chase me away and help me figure out what happened.

Shizura jerked to attention as a figure emerged from the underbrush, but she relaxed as he waved, even though his ragged appearance worried her.

"Hello, sir!" she called cheerfully, approaching him, a cute smile on her face, her dimples showing. He began to look a little nervous for some reason, but she shrugged it off, since he still looked friendly. "Are you lost? You look like you've had a little trouble." She cocked her head slightly, smiling. "Don't worry! I'm Shizura Relawell, Magician In Training! If you're being chased by monsters, I'll help you out..."

He looks like he can take care of himself against Goblins, though, even if he isn't a warrior... he looks strong! And rather handsome... though he could probably use a bath!

She placed a soft, warm hand on his shoulder. "I'm on my way to the next town. I'll guide you there, and we can get you some clothes and a bath, okay? We might have to camp along the way, but I'll keep you safe..." She smiled gently, her hazel eyes soft and kind. "You wouldn't want to meet any Goblins around these parts. Or, Elder Spirits forbid, a troll!"

Hotaru

"Hai Papa! I am just going to the store for bread Papa!"

::Hotaru called from the living room, her father, Professor Tomoe, had peeked his head out of his bedroom and nodded::

Tomoe: "Be careful out there Hotaru-san, come back home quickly"

::With a soft smile Hotaru nodded and grabbed her glaive from the corner of the living room, just in case she ran into any trouble::

~

::The sun was bright outside, the village was busy with people bargaining in the market place. Hotaru carried her glaive in one hand, and a bread basket in another. She wore a soft smile on her face, the rays of the sun cascaded off of her jet black hair.

She wore her usual black outfit, her most comfortable color. And despite the occasional stares, it seemed pretty peaceful in the little village right now.

With a soft smile on her face she went into the busy marketplace, going from vendor to vendor to see what they had to sell::

Kevin Wild

Kevin jumped slightly when the young girl placed her hand on his arm. So soft and warm . . . but he was still in control for now.

Ah . . . hi," he stammered. "I'm Kevin Wild. So you handle monsters, huh? Nope, no monsters here! HA HA! Just little old me. I have been hoping to travel with a magicien though. I'd love to travel with you to the next town. Say . . . aren't you a little young to be out here all by yourself?"

She stiffened slightly. He had hit one of her weak points.

"I'm not young!" she cried, stomping her foot and quivering her lip, not particularly helping her attempted image of a mature woman. "I'm eighteen years old and I can handle myself!" She sniffed, shuffled her feet, and then blushed and smiled weakly.

"I'm sorry... that's just something I'm sensitive about. I know I look young." She grinned and scratched her head. "But don't worry! I've handled myself against monsters before! Those Goblins don't stand a cha--"

And then everything happened at once.

Shizura and Kevin went flying away from each other, the nooses around each of their feet dragging them away. Both completely surprised, neither could fight as Kevin found himself flopped onto the dirt as grubby hands tied his arms behind his back, and he could see out of the corner of his eye two goblins in the process of tying the magician girl up as well. A tough-looking goblin, green and mottled with a yellow-toothed sneer, prodded a rusty knife at her throat.

"Don't even try casting a spell, human," it chortled, leering at her with a smirk. "Another young adventurer, eh? You've bothered us enough for one day. Perhaps it's time we taught you a lesson."

The goblins cackled at the expression of terror on the pretty girl's face. N-No! she thought wildly. How could I be ambushed!? How can this happen to me! I'm a maiden... I can't be violated by filthy goblins...!

She cried out and squirmed wildly against her bonds as she felt her soft leather armor being unbuckled from behind her. She had a pretty clear idea of what was coming.

"No! Please! Not now! I'm not ready for this...!"

Heading off through the forest, he shakes his head. I can’t believe she chased me from the house like that. As he walks deeper into the trees he stops several times to untangle his horn from low hanging branches.

He walks further on as the sun comes up. Stopping suddenly, he lifts his head and flicks his ears forward, hearing the sound of a scuffle, and catching the foul scent of goblins and a very different intriguing scent, that he seems drawn towards. He picks up his pace and then breaks into a gallop through the trees, suddenly leaping out into the clearing…

"Obviously, not all noble unicorns are white." He rushes in and figuring his horn a good a weapon as any, uses it as he would a sword, placing himself as close to the girl as possible with out trampling her, but stomping and kicking the goblins, the morning sun shining off his deep brown coat as he continues helping chase the remaining goblins away.

Once he is sure they are gone he turns to the girl, moving closer, lowering his head. “Are you ok?” As he lowers his head light glints off the chain still around his neck and the amulet upon it.

She closed her eyes, biting her lip--

--but nothing came for her.

Surprised, she looked up to see a beautiful horse rearing above her, chasing the goblins away. No, not a horse -- that horn...

...a unicorn!?

What luck! A unicorn coming to save a young virgin! And such a lovely horse, too... I just can't believe it! Has this ever happened? To ANYONE?

She struggled to her feet, still stunned by the process of events, and then stepped back in surprise as the unicorn turned to look her in the eyes. If she didn't know any better, she'd think that it seemed worried. But unicorns aren't that smart, are they?

"Are you okay?"

Her jaw dropped.

T-Telepathic conversation!

"Y-You can speak to me!" she whispered, glancing back at the young man who was beginning to free himself from his bonds. "H-He spoke to me! The unicorn! With his mind!"

She turned, looking down at the unicorn, smiling widely and happily. "You're amazing! And such a beautiful unicorn! Thank you so much for saving me...!"

She leaned forward and gently kissed the dark brown unicorn on his nose. She smiled and shook her hair back, still a picture of beauty even after her scuffle.

"My name is Shizura Relawell... I'm a Magician in training... but obviously, I still have a lot more training to do!"

Kevin Wild

"Whoah, that was close!" Kevin said, averting his eyes from Shizura as she put her armour back on. "You sure handled them alright! Summoning a unicorn! And a black one at that. I bet they're pretty rare, huh? I'm sure going to learn a lot hanging out with you, Shizura."

Shizura paused as she held a hand down to help Kevin up.

"A-Ah, yes!" she managed, chuckling nervously. "It was all part of my plan! Summoning the unicorn! Yes!" She cleared her throat and shook her head, blinking, before smiling and turning back to the unicorn.

"What's your name, pretty one?" she whispered soothingly to the unicorn.

"Uh, I'm Logan. I'm... not actually a unicorn... I don't know what happened... this morning, I just..."

Her eyes widened. "Are you serious? You just... wha?"

"Just turned into a unicorn. My mom kicked me out of the house, and I don't know what happened. Maybe somebody cursed me? And I don't know how I can talk to you. My mother couldn't understand me..."

Shizura shook her head slowly. "Ah, well, I could take you to the wizard's college... that's where I'm going. To get an education, now that I can leave my village." She glanced back at Kevin (who looked a bit confused), smiling softly. "Don't worry about anything. We'll stop at the nearby town and get something to eat, and then figure all this out, okay? And Kevin, unless you need the help of an advanced wizard too, I can drop you off there..."

"I really have no idea what to do or where to go. Everything's happened so fast... eh... alright..."

"Great!" cried Shizura, clapping her hands together. "We're making a good, old-fashioned adventuring party! Albeit a bit of a motley one..." She then blushed and tilted her head slightly.

"Uh... could I ride you?"

"What?"

"You know... ride you. Since I am a girl and all. It's allowed, right?"

"Hmm... well, you, alright. I wouldn't mind. But not the guy. He looks dirty. He might mess up my beautiful coat."

Shizura stared wryly at Logan the now-unicorn. "Aren't you getting a bit used to being a unicorn a bit fast?"

"What do you mean?"

"Uhh, never mind." She grinned slightly and hoisted herself up onto Logan's muscular yet soft back, gripping his mane gently. "I hope you don't mind walking," she said to Kevin, blushing with embarassment. "I hate to do this to you... but I really have always wanted to ride a unicorn, and he says only girls can..."

She then smiled cutely at him, her dimples showing again. "And you never told me your name, handsome..."

Kevin Wild

Handsome? Kevin blushed and fidgited. "Ah . . . heh heh. I'm Kevin Wild. And if you're going to see a really experienced wizard, that'd be great! That's exactly what I need for . . . uh, no reason. But you seem like you're really experienced. With magic I mean."

Kevin walked alongside the girl and her unicorn, keeping his distance from both, making their way into the village. "So have you ridden before?"

Eeve pouted as she looked around at all the people in the square. This wasn't quite what she expected the outside world to be like. She held her oak staff close to her as she brushed a few strands from red hair from her face.

"Excuse me...Excuse me..Hello?"

She kept trying to get some help, but no one seemed to be listening. The end ofher tail was partily hidden under the black dress she wore. It was modestly cut in the front, but curved down to the middle of her back and fit her trim figure well.

She nibbled on her bottom lip and continued on through the crowd.

"Where do I need to go to?"

Shizura smiled softly and glanced at Kevin again, her long dark hair blowing back with the breeze as she couldn't help but have her curious gaze drawn to Kevin's mostly bare body. Blushing, she turned away again slightly, hoping he hadn't noticed, and decided she had better respond to him.

"Ah, yes... back at the village, some of our neighbors had horses... we all learned to ride. What little I know I learned from what was there. But there weren't very many books in my village... and I doubt they have any in this town. Too bad libraries are so scare -- that's why I need to go to the wizard's college."

She stole a glance back at Kevin. There were handsome farmers back at home who were interested in me, but this boy seems like a sweetheart... I wonder if he likes me too? At least he seems to trust me, despite the goblin incedent...

The villagers began to stop and watch, surprised, as Shizura rode the unicorn into town. Blushing under their gaping mouths, she patted Logan and smiled at him. "Stay nearby, okay? We're going to rest up for the rest of the journey."

"I'll stay in the stables. I don't want to hang around outside...!"

Nodding, Shizura led him into the stables, where the astonished stableboy merely gaped at the majestic dark-amber unicorn. The shapely magician girl turned back to Kevin, smiling widely.

"Head on inside. I'll ask the innkeeper if I can purchase some extra clothes he might have, and get you something to wear so you don't get too cold, okay? And we'll rent a room for the night before we plot our route from here."

It will be nice to have a travelling companion...

Dreant Firebane

Dreant looked down, the goblins had just been driven off by a unicorn. but that wasn't the real threat. who would even blink towards goblins trying to rape a young girl.... when those two bastard creatures were sitting on that stump so closely. they were the real threat.

listen to them chatter and chirp, i can hear it now, their not talking about nuts, their talking about THEIR nuts!

but this was no way to do it!their probaby thinking of a way to get those two other's away from the girl as we speak. well! lo, though our village could be a but more friendly, hard to make alot of friends when you can say goodnight to them all from your own room if you yell loud enough....

Dreant licked his finger and held it up, the branch creaked alittle as he tested the wind, and then jumped from the towering pinnicle of wood, dropping like a rock to the earth, at the last moment spreading hsi arms, and catching the strong draft in his odd wind like flaps, suddenly swooping along the ground, he came towards the two squirrels like a bullet, one stood in terror, the other took to it's legs. Dreant snatched his jaws, and took the head clean off the first one, something a humanoid could be proud of, considering their teeth. the second had managed to dissapear into the bush, but as Dreant came crashing in aftarwards, the ensuing thrashing and wild clawing, sending bristles of the brush scartering in a fury.

the thrashing calmed for a couple seconds, and then a small bloody carcas, ripped to shreads flew, and landed in front of the party.

Dreant popped his head up out of the brush, satisfied the creature was a goner, and then leapt up a couple branches, and doing a similar speed dive, kissed the dirt before taking off tpo the tree-tops.

Shizura stared at the dead squirrels in front of her as she stood outside the stables, at the outskirts of the town where the inn stood. She stared up at the monster which had disappeared into the trees.

She knew exactly what to do.

She screamed.

"Eeeeeeeeek! Get out of there, foul creature of the night!"

She concentrated, and motes of snow began to form around her.

"Icy breath within the night, bring black ice to hear my plight! ICE LANCE!"

One blast of snow and crystalized water later, leaves and branches fluttered all over the ground and the squirrel-man lay stunned on the ground, having been barely missed by the attack.

"H-Hey!" she cried, rushing forward. She turned back to the stunned Kevin and shooed him away, pointing into the inn. "Go get our rooms and get some clothes! I'll pay! Don't worry about me!" she hissed. She then turned back to the stunned squirrel-man.

"What in the world ARE you?" she finally said, gawking at him. "Are you hunting humans? Or... squirrels?"

Eeve went to the first place she had thought of, the inn. She went inside, but stopped right in front of the door to look around. She nibbled on her bottom lip for a moment.

"I think I forgot to get money, or was it food?"

She whimpered as she stood in front of the door, trying to figure it out exactly what she forgot.

Kevin Wild

Kevin walked nervously into the in. She was so owerful! And so cute . . . he tried not to think about it. She said a room. Secure us a room for night. One room for the two of them. "One room please," he asked the manager. She must just be trying to save money.

Kevin avoided the serving girls, and asked for some clothes from the stable boy. He carried the bundle up to the room (their room!) and poured himself a tub of hot water. Laying his new clothes on the room's single bed, Kevin stripped out of his torn shorts and started washing, his back to the door.

Dreant Firebane

Dreant rubbed his head. he'd taken a pretty hard knocking on that fall.

he looked up and saw the young girl again, onlythis time up much closer. she was a goddess! wait.... Dreant shook his head, trying to get the stars to go away. he momentarily forgot that all women who wern't covered in hair and frozen hard by the north were stunning. he had no idea how to judge her by human standards, but being not human, that didn't matter much to him.

"What in the world ARE you?" she finally said, gawking at him. "Are you hunting humans? Or... squirrels?"

he smiled as the cold breath of her talk. it was lightly snowing here after all, even in the summer.

Dreant cleared his throat, he hadn't actually spoken in some time, and opened his mouth, "I, am a man. no, wait, a Squirrel.... NO i can't be a squirrel.... hate them.... i'm a.... Squirman? a Manirrel?"

Dreant went on mumbling to himself before he suddenly froze. what the hell was he doing?! he was close the a human vilage! he had been seen by two of them even, and now he was face to face withone of them! his heart leapt up into his chest, and a nervous awkwardness came over him. "er, uh.... ung......."

he broke the gaze with those big eyes, and launched himself back up into the trees, his arms scrambling to tear himself higher up, and the soar away from this close encounter.

He perched at the top, glanced back down at the girl, and lept.

Hotaru..

- Hotaru had watched as 3 strangers eased their way into the nearby inn. Her violet eyes were wide as she filled up her basket with bread, in order to return it to her father -

"So strange... these people.... elves?"

- People were going to think she was crazy for talking to herself.

Hotaru made her way home, which was close to the entrance of the forest, and she wondered if she would find her answers in there. Maybe someone needed help, or healing.. she had to find out. No matter the risk of goblins...

She peeked inside of her house, setting the bread down on the counter before her father could welcome her back. He was most likely tending to his plants, as he always was.

With her glaive in her hand she left home, and began her walk to the forest... -

~

It was cold, damp... an eerie feeling as if sounds were coming in every direction. But still Hotaru pressed on, even though she had made it only a couple of feet into the forest. She remember all the tales as a child, tales like Little Red Riding Hood, and Hansel and Gretal...

The thought sent shivers down her spine....

But if someone needed healing she would..

"SQUAWK!!! THUD."

- Hotaru led out a scream of terror, a goblin had blocked her entrance from going further. She had to gather herself, she HAD too-

"SQUAWWWKKK!!"

- It was followed by another one, then another.. and another.. until 4 goblins had Hotaru surronded....

What was she going to do? -

Jeez...it's so boring in here. The worst part is that this stall is smaller than the closet in my bedroom, and now I'm five times bigger.

A few horses start making noise as one of the hands goes through the barn and opens the stall across the walkway from Logan. Leading a horse out to its owner and then heading back to his quarters at the end of the stable.

Hmm...so that's how these doors open. Well I'll just reach over and... With that he rears up, and tries to put a hoof over, the stall door...tripping back a bit. Oh right...no hands. Well how am I supposed to get this open? The horse next to him looks over and then uses his mouth to open his gate and pushing out, heading towards the exit, only to be caught by the stable hand and brought back.

Eww...I've got to use my mouth. Gross. Ugh...it's bad enough I had to eat out of that nasty bin thing over there. Although the grains were a very nice meal. He pauses a moment. I didn't just say that did I? I've got to get out of here, just for tonight.

And with that he grabs the latch with his mouth, flings the door open and runs towards the end of the stable. Of course the hand tries to block the path of the charging unicorn, but quickly moves as Logan lowers his head.

Ha ha...sweet freedom! He kicks and bucks through the streets, sending many of the townspeople running, before heading into the forest, figuring a little wandering would be ok to keep busy. Besides chasing those goblins was pretty fun.

"Oh yeah, it was food I forgot. I need to buy some if I am going to do much more traveling."

Eeve huffed softly as a few strands fell into her face again. Jade green eyes peered around for a few moments before she went to the innkeeper.

"I would like to buy some bread."

Bread? We have plenty of soup and other foods, but we don't sell bread by itself.

"You don't? Why not? Does it have rats in it?"

After she said that, a few of the customers who were nearest and eating suddenly got up and rushed outside to be sick.

Now listen here Miss...

Eeve and the innkeeper were soon in a heated discussion about the state of the food at the inn. She just couldn't understand why the innkeeper was getting so mad over a few questions. She also didn't notice that the last footof her tail was sticking out beneath the bottom of her dress...

Kevin Wild

Kevin heard shouting from downstairs. Oh, no! Shizuka was in trouble! Still soaking wet, he quickly pulled on his new shirt and breeches. Not bothering with his shoes, he looked around for a weapon. All he could find was the pitcher of hot water for his bath. He grabbed it and ran downstairs, not sure what good it, or he, would be against anything that could threaten Shizuka and her magics.

Reaching the main room of the inn, the tanned boy saw a short figure talking heatedly to the old manager. The other customers looked disgusted. Kevin couldn't see the figure's face, only the tail coming out from under her dress. A monster! And Shizuka was nowhere in sight.

"Feeble peasant hot water attack!" Kevin yelled, and dumped the pitcher over the creature's head.

Zarl, of the Macrai-Itoche

Suddenly, a loud yell was heard in the forest. The goblins turned for their new conquest, hearing the powerful cry of, 'TaserBlade-Omnihusiro!' Then, with a cry, a woman went sprawling through the underbrush to where four goblins were about to, shall we say, 'have fun with' Hotaru. The woman crushed one of the disgusting creatures, and lurched back to her feet as the creatures lauched towards her with a cry of, "Get her!"

The woman swung her broadsword around, slicing deftly through another of the things as she crushed the windpipe of the one she had dazed. The woman was obviously a warrior. Her armor was in disarray, her breastplate missing and her shirt ripped apart, exposing her round, ample breasts. She did not look happy.

Breaking through the brush after her came Zarl. He ran through quickly, throwing out his wings to break his speed. He brought his katana around, slicing into a goblin that launched itself at the woman. "Back, fastering rats, she's mine!" Zarl yelled at the remaining goblin.

"Yours!?!" the woman yelled back, bringing her sword around in a fierce attack that Zarl barely managed to block. "You lecherous monster! If you hadn't surprised me so by feeling me up in my sleep, I'd have killed you by now!"

Zarl fought back hard. His hair was in disarray, and he was sweating hard. She was a professional fighter. He was barely keeping up with her. "But your tits are beautiful! Look at them, so round and-"

She attacked again, pushing him back as she hammered away at him. "STOP LOOKING AT MY BREASTS! You filthy Macite!" Her sword slammed against his, the sound of steel on steel ringing in the forest as she followed through, obviously intent on killing him.

Perhaps I shouldn't have said that, Zarl thought, wishing he could have waited for a simple village girl instead of a hardened figther. He called upon his fighters trance, his muscles bulging a small amout, and taking on an odd glow.

"BEATING THE BISHOP!" he beloowed, calling forth a speedy one of his powerful attacks. His sword flashed as he speedilly began to push he back, ending a long rain of blow by sweeping her feet from under her an knocking her sword away.

"Yes!" He cried, throwing himself down on the woman. He dropped his katana, grabbing her wrists with his hands as she tried to fight him off. He'd wrestle her down and take the spoils of the fight.

.....And he still hadn't noticed Hotaru was there.

"Get off of her!!!"

- Hotaru's soft voice was full of anger as she saw her saviour about to be taken advantage of. If he hadn't noticed her then, he would sure notice the tip of her long sturdy glaive pressing towards the delicate flesh of his cheek-

"Let go of her now, you filthy man.. or whatever the hell you are.. I said LET GO!!"

-She wasn't a fighter, but she wouldn't just sit back and watch... -
