Pleasure in Exile {Closed}

She had walked to the store the energy around her clearly a shielding but different almost like a signal as well. Not really seeking anyone from her realm but clearly not meant for the normal mortals either.

The guardian looked to the young still a little confused at Dev's words.

Explain were hawk please. Home... Hawks are birds of Horus

He tilted his head looking to them but still looking to the back door curious if the bird would return. Continuing to speak he looked to them for a moment.

Dev and the priestess appear to be mates. The priestess has always had an affinity for beings who are... More than human.

Explain were hawk please. Home... Hawks are birds of Horus

They all just exchanged looks, frowning at one another before the youngest girl spoke up "Were Hawk, That bird is just like us, Able to take human form, Were is another term for Shapeshifter, that Hawk, was a spy, a shapeshifter who uses his talents and abilitys for deceit and trickery. Mostly to make money from others who want to use them for their own gain." the girl fell silent not sure what else to really say about it, they looked out the window their thoughts tangled as they thought about Dev, the Priestess and everything that has happened in the last few weeks. and the pain they still feel about the loss of the others they had known.

Dev and the priestess appear to be mates. The priestess has always had an affinity for beings who are... More than human. The kids perked up interested in that tid bit, a litany of questions were thrown at him from them all. How old is she, where did she come from, her training, her past, growing up Questions about Dev, and his hand in all this. then fell more into history questions about Egypt and the "gods" that were worshipped.

Dev grumbled to himself, he felt another hawk in the area, but he couldnt see him, the sun was down and it made them infinitely better at hiding amongst trees and bush. He felt his mate, his life, just strolling, but it was the sirens call of her power that had him worried, what she looking for trouble? looking for others? why broadcast herself like this. Dev grumbled again as he sat at a redlight

The guardian snarled a little.

So honorable bird of Horus in this realm is merely a coward of Set...

He answered their questions but part of his mind still pondered the were hawks, and the division of the realms and how they were closed off from earth realm and those that ended up exiled or abandoned here. He told them of the priestess and her unique history.

~~~~~~
Lilura paused for a moment sensing her mate nearby and sighed knowing one of the cubs had to have told them. She began walking again and again pulsed her shield again watching various people look to her some curious and others clearly wary. One walked up t her... an older woman who stood studying her neither making any threatening movements.
Your... scent my dear... I know the scent on you and the long faded scent of a foreign distant home.
Lilura looked to her as she spoke
What do you know of those scents Elder one?
One scent... it is of this place... of this town... I think. The other... strange but... comforting like a faint whiff of a dream home.
Dev growled as he sat at a red light, his eyes scanning the quickly darkening sky as his fingers drummed on the steering wheel, he felt another pulse from her and inwardly cringed, what was she doing???? trying to draw out their enemy? looking for me? he'd wished she'd told him what she had planned. As the light turned green Dev's neck tingled and his head snapped up, looking around he thought he spotted a dark shadow ducking into the alley behind the gas station but the sharp cry of a car horn behind him caused him to growl and he peeled rubber before whipping off to the side of the road. He inhaled as he got out of the truck, he caught a whiff of something on the air but frowned as he didn't recognize it.
Getting out he slinked his way to the alley, concentrating he listened, seeing if he could hear anything, his nose flaring again he couldn't sent anything "could have sworn...." slowly he made his way into the alley, hands clenched into a fists he moved slowly, listening his eyes adjusting to the darkness "Boy.......all these Decades and you still haven't learned to watch your back..... Haven't i taught you anything?" Dev barely registered the voice or the fact it was familiar before a shovel caught him between the eyes, then everything went black.
The cubs sat with the Guardian for nearly 3 hours exchanging information, telling them what they knew about the history of their kind, and the different races that they "knew" about exsisted and the rumors of others, dragons, dire wolves, the ancient races of known shifters. "Should we go looking for Dev or the Priestess? they've been gone for a while.... you would think Dev would have brought her back..." they shifted nervously
The Guardian nodded and standing he growled a little cursing that he did not sense what the Priestess had been doing then he noticed something the young girl who seemed to always be on edge or fearful seemed to be watching the widow that aimed towards town.
What do you sense child
His voice was low but kind as he watched her not wishing to scare her.
You are sensitive to magics aren't you?
She backed away from him and the others biting her lip. She saw everyone's expressions of curiosity and concern and finally spoke in that tiny nervous voice they all knew well from her.
She... she is trying to draw something or someone out... but its not the thing that was in our old house... She... she is calling out the pack... She is calling to those that used to run these lands... like in Dev's time... Why?
The others looked shocked and a little worried as the Guardian simply snarled and shook his head.
She seeks to fix matters or drag those that hide into the light to convince them to fight of their home as well. Stubborn Priestess... DO any of you know how to contact one of those werehawks? Perhaps they can be convinced to take on their more honorable path with Horus and aid us with the Priestess.
The old woman looked to her then to a truck pulling over beside them as Lilura's eyes were drawn to it as well watching the man in the truck seem to tense at the shielding and the signal rippling from her.
It may well be good if you join us stranger... we accept your signal and are willing to meet with you... fear not you will not be crossed for the good you have done getting rid of the witch. You will however not refuse going with us now. You have the attention of a few of our camp members.
Lilura's eyes seemed to spark as a smirk graced her lips. She knew there was little if anything that could harm her from this realm and even if they could it would merely be physical and that she could heal.
Very well but if anything happens to any of mine... Including my mate and my warrior... lets just leave it at all of mine will remain unharmed is that clear?
The old woman nodded and at an attempted growl from the driver the old woman elbowed him and nodded in agreement to her terms.
None of yours will be harmed.
Dev came awake slowly to a raging pain in his temple, groaning he placed his hands over his eyes and rubbed his face, darkness was clouding the edges of his consciousness he was tempted to let the darkness take him again. But slowly he cracked open a single eye, barely. Even the low light hurt and he groaned again. Only to realize he was lying in a bed and none of the scents in the air were familiar. Blinking slowly he sat up, only to have his head swim, letting himself fall back on the bed he slowly took in his surroundings, he heard the soft thud of footsteps and his eyes riveted to the door. Quickly he looked around for a weapon but all he found was the lamp, with a mutter he grabbed it and ready to throw it.
“Boy, I’d put that down if I were you” The Voice caused Dev to startle as the door opened, after 80 years the last person he’d expected to see……was his father………the Lamp dropped from his hand as he froze, shattering on the ground as it landed. His father was every bit the intimidating sight he’d remembered from his childhood. “Damn dad, did you really have to hit him so hard? You’re lucky you didn’t split his head wide open” Dev looked around his Fathers broad shoulders to see his brother Remy leaning against the wall.
“What………the hell……did you hit me with?” Dev muttered, again the throbbing in his temples forced him to wince. With a sigh his dad moved to the bed and pulled a small penlight from his shirt pocket, much to Dev’s annoyance he shined the light into his eyes testing the pupil’s reactions and contractions “He’s fine, no concussion, I only hit him with the backside of the shovel” Dev glared at his dad “Shovel? You hit me with a fucking shovel?” Dev’s dad popped him on the back of the head causing dev to wince again “watch that tongue boy, I didn’t tolerate that even when you were a kid” sighing Dev just lay back against the pillows. He sat there staring at his father and his brother, unsure what to say or where to start. “80 years……..and nothing? No word? No hello? Why show up now? Why a shovel to the head?”
Dev’s dad looked at him for a long while. His face impassive, unreadable. “it was a few months before we got the real story about what happened that night, that Annie’s dad attacked you first and you just reacted. But by then you were in the wind, we couldn’t find you at least you learned how to hide yourself, maybe a little too well..” he sighed softly “Then Annie’s mother began weaving her web all over town, ensnaring and bespelling any magic user she could find. Our bloodline was strong enough to resist her and we went into hiding, and stayed that way.” He looked back over his shoulder to Remy, then looked back to Dev “Then we felt a new presence in town, strong magic that we haven’t felt in centuries” Dev perked up at that comment “centuries? What are you telling me dad?”
Dev’s father crossed his arms and looked grim, and started his tale from the begining
Lilura was helped from the truck and led to a small house. Her eyes flashed a deep golden red as she caught the scent of her mate. Her powers began to arc along with her temper.
Where is he?
Her tone was cold but edged with a lethal power.
~~~~

The young female cub winced a little scared of the guardian and the rage she felt on the air. They both looked to each other and in unison...

She is angry...

The guardian seemed to almost double in muscle mass as he stormed from the house.

Stay here you are safe here.

With that he took to the shadows and was gone

Where is he?

The old women just smiled “calm yourself my lady, Dev is with his father and brother” she smiled as she looked to Lilura with a gentle smile but her eyes were weary of the power she felt. There was a calculating look to it, appraising. Lilura was led inside the small home and could hear the soft rumbling of men talking. Dev caught the shift in the air and his dad stopped talking, looking to the door as Lilura walked in Dev’s jaw hit the ground then glared at his dad “What? No shovel for her? She just gets to stroll right in? “Sarcasm heavy in his voice he sighed, he sensed her anger “My love, meet……..my….dad, Dad, this is my mate Lilura”

Dev’s father’s brow arched as he looked to the Lilura. He said nothing for a long few minutes before he stood “Call me Kurt, “ he hesitated, not sure if he should offer a hand for her to shake, he looked to Dev, then back to Lilura, quizzical, “Mate huh? “the deep grumble of Kurt’s voice belayed the questioning tone as if expecting an explanation, Dev just gave him a cocky grin as he slowly sat up from the bed slowly, his hand going to his head but waved his dad away as he offered to help him. It would seem my love, that your gift of intuition again hits the mark. He came looking,” the soft voice from behind Lilura piped up “Anyone thirsty?” slowly the old women bustled around Lilura with a small tray in her hands “Hello mom…” Dev said politely, she just grinned at him and set the tray on the small table beside the bed “So….dad tell you about the shovel??” Dev’s mom stopped and looked at him “what?” Dev grinned as Kurt growled beside him “Dad knocked me out with a shovel to the face, “ The old women turned on kurt with a growl of her own, not animal but pretty damn close “KURT YOU DIDN’T!!!” walking up to him She popped kurt between the eyes with an audible “thwack” then doubled Kurt over and forced him to grab his head, Dev lost it and started laughing as Kurt Growled “laugh now boy “

Dev calmed a degree happy to see “some” payback. With a sigh he moved to Lilura and wrapped her in his arms “calm love, its alright, Dad was just telling me about some family history that he’d failed to mention to me growing up. Guess the guardian wasn’t that far off the mark about our Blood tie….” Dev popped a thumb towards his dad and mom, her face going calm, resigned “Dad’s also a LOT older then I thought…”

Dev looked up as his neck tingled “oh………shit…….ummm..babe?” turning as what sounded like a freight train approaching the house a gust of wind hit the door then blew it off its hinges followed by a battle cry that rattled the house as the guardian charged in, Kurt grabbed his wife as she screamed and pulled her behind him. Dev shouted as he tried to grab the guardian “HEY HEY HEY HEY” the guardian forearmed dev and sent him into the wall stunning him before he moved to stand before Lilura “Fucking….hard…headed…..one track mind….god……..damn it…that hurt..” dev cursed as he got to his feet unsteadily, it took a few minutes as the guardian looked around, expecting battle before he seemed to realize that no one was attacking him he finally blinked and looked around as everyone cowered “Fucking…….maniac….” Dev yelled

The guardian snarled to Dev...
Priestess became angered... Cubs were fearful for her and for you. I guard the priestess.

The massive lionman loooked around.

You will release the priestess and her mate... Now.

Lilura lifted a hand to him

Calm old friend this is Dev's family.

He snorted but nodded to her accepting her words. Lilura moved to Dev and checked on him healing as she could.

Remember love he has not been here that long this realm is still strange to him.

Remember love he has not been here that long this realm is still strange to him.

Dev winced slightly but smiled gratefully “mmmm the power of touch” Dev couldn’t help the smartass remark but grinned and winked to his loving mate. Rubbing the back of his head he looked to the guardian taking in his form “Lion? That’s new….” Dev coughed then looked to his dad and Mother huddled in the corner of the room and sighed shaking his head “damn it…”

“Mom…..Dad….this is Liluras Guardian…….” Makes a vague hand gesture at the big guy as he curls his arm around Lilura’s waist, too much had happened to quickly and he was already exhausted, licking his lips as they felt dry “he won’t hurt you, at least he better not or imma find a way to kick his ass” The guardian just glared at Dev but slowly his form shrunk, somewhat, back to his normal size and looked to Lilura “The young female cub is able to sense magic, she sensed you searching then of him being hurt” he thumbed a motion at Dev “Then anger flare from you and I came, thought you in trouble…”

Dev’s dad and mom for the most part just stared, looking back and forth between the three of them before Kurt straightened himself, not realizing just how tense his body had become expecting a fight, his look was speculative as he eyed the guardian “So, The guardians of the gods walk the planes of man once more? Are there more of you?” the guardian was about to answer and Kurt just held up a hand “nevermind, dumb question I would have sensed others with your power.” Crossing his arms he looked to Lilura “My lady Priestess, im proud that my Son would find, let alone mate with one of your breed, you bring honor to our bloodline” the Potshot that dev didn’t deserve Lilura didn’t go over Dev’s head and he glared, he’d hated that he’d never been good enough in his fathers eyes and he wrapped his arm more securely around her waist his eyes saying plainly “Mine”

Dev’s fathers just merely waved his hand in a non committal gesture as he stretched out his hand palm up in an inviting mannor “Our home is your home, come please, let us sit and talk. There is much we need to discuss I think, History, and future, We know that another darker entity walks this world again, There has been a shift in the essence of magic, I see now part of it was you, and that inwardly at least I sense change in my Son as well…but there is more…” he trailed off as they walked to the living room

“Do you have any questions? Maybe some things I could fill in for you before we start?” Kurt cocked his head to one side very reminiscent of something dev often did

Lilura's stance shifted a little as her eyes seemed to bore through Kurt.

To begin with your insults veiled in empty compliments of My mate will not be tolerated. As for shifts yes there have been both many generations ago when I was sent here and within the past few days yes when something happened to the seal between the realms.

Her eyes leaving no doubt that she would not tolerate any words against her mate at all.

To begin with your insults veiled in empty compliments of My mate will not be tolerated

Kurt looked like he about to say something but a gentle hand on his shoulder from his wife stopped him. he shared a look between him, Dev's brother and mother before looking back to Lilura and Dev, again he looked like he soooo wanted to say something but swallowed back as he nodded, they moved into the living room and Kurt sat in a worn beat up recliner with a sigh. Motion to the couch and love seat Kurt sat back, once more his eyes going to Lilura, an edge in the look that Dev couldn't quiet make out.

As for shifts, yes, there have been both many generations ago. When I was sent here, and within the past few days. Yes when something happened to the seal between the realms.

Dev's father took a deep sigh and rose to stand. Going to the book shelf he rested his hand on an old worn tome, that surprising dev never noticed before. Returning to his seat he blew the dust from the cover and rested his hand over the worn leather. Speaking softly as the illusion spell was rescinded the book transformed and grew larger, rune carvings glowed and etched along the book bindings as pages filled out.

"This.................has been handed down to the Men of the family who have carried magic in their blood since the beginning of time. at last count, 15 different blood lines, each powerful shifters and races reside on this plain, and I've heard rumors over the decades of even more. Jaguars of the Aztec's, Leopards and cheetahs of Egypt, as well as a rare species of Lynx thought lost after the last Pharaoh died. Bears, Wolves thought to be descended from the Ancient Norse, Hawks, Lions of the savannah, Tigers of the ancient Chinese Dynasties."

he laid open the book, the ancient scrollwork writing, his hand lightly stroking over the writing. "Each containing stories of how the bloodlines came to be in existence. Gifts from the old gods, Ancient tribes or native settlers who communed with the spirits of the world and nature. Our bloodline is mixed, our forefather was egyptian, a guardian to the Pharaoh Ra, or so we believe, though it was never outright mentioned which ruler. And an indian medicine women from what we know as America. "

Closing the book he got up, offering it to Lilura "I think..................its time that i passed it on, " he looked to Dev "Over the millenia we were taught how to harness the powers of nature to heal from our Foremother, and inherited the GIfts bestowed by the gods to commune with the Spirits and take on an animal form that fit our spirits. Our family bloodline have been leopards for as far back as i can remember. Despite our unique longevity and life spans, details have faded from memory, to old for anyone to truely remember. But i have a feeling that you, My Lady, and your guardian may be able to fill in some details that we have forgotten"

Kurt Smiled softly

The guardian growled noting the desire to speak from Kurt.

You wish... To say something to the Priestess?

Lilura held up a hand to silence him as they moved to the living room. She sat down by Dev the guardian remained standing he did not trust them nor the looks between them. He was protecting his Priestess and her mate.

Yes perhaps we can. What questions do you have for us?

You wish... To say something to the Priestess?

Dev's Father looked at the big male, it wasnt hard to tell he really did wish to say something, but a motion from Lilura kept him quiet as the guardian was rained in. He gave a speculative look to Lilura again. He really did like her, sensed her power and it called to him as it so obviously did with Dev. with a sigh he just shook his head. Watching as Dev slipped his arm behind her and cuddled her in against him. While he didnt want to admit it he was happy that Dev had found love and someone to appreciate who and what he was. It was just so hard to get over everything. The sudden changes in balance and power in the area had rattled them all. It wasnt until he saw Dev Tearing around in his truck he realized what must have happened, the shift in the magic he felt and the lifting of the pall that had fallen over their small town.

Yes perhaps we can. What questions do you have for us?

Kurts eyes refocused and he blinked, hesitating again as he corralled his thoughts his hand once more returning to the tome in his lap, stroking it. "I guess...........the biggest question to start with, is.......well...Our bloodline, so much is steeped in history, Stories twisted, forgotten, retold so many times through out the ages that things get diluted and changed, not on purpose, but its like that old game of Telephone as a child. You tell one kid something, and he tells it to the next person and so on and so on, and when you get to the end of the line you find out what you said in the first place sounds nothing what the last child said...."

he looks saddened as he spoke, the shifting of the idle pages as he leafed through them then looked back to her. "It was never made clear, and seems as im sure dev has told you, only the men in our family have carried the ability to wield magic and shapeshift. Oh some of the women have been able to dabble in Healing magic but never truely take a second form. Dev got both from me and his mother, he was strong, even as a cub, Katie was a strong healer in her younger days" Dev's mother moved to sit on the arm of the chair Kurt was in and smiled lovingly down at him patting his shoulder "I guess Dev took after me more then most, always hot blooded, eager to learn, to explore and test his limits, but he was able to heal, and to shift, but our training well...........stopped the day..........." Kurt trailed off not wanting to say what they all knew "The day Annie's mother cursed him, then took over the town"

Females were the healers of the warriors and Guardians so there was little reason for them to shift though Sekmet did grant that ability to some of her warrior healers.

She paused watching Dev's mother for a moment.

Guardian... Her eyes...

The guardian moved to kneel before her studying her eyes.

Her ancestry holds the blood of Mother's warrior healers.

She tilted her head.

Interesting... Sons of Bast were allowed to wander the realms but the Warrior healers of Sekmet were always kept closer to home. Your power loss... Being cut off from Sekmet could have... Your powers began to fade then after Dev's birth they vanished?

She shifted a little thinking

That could exain his strength of powers and his expanding powers now that we are united.

She motioned for the guardian to stay where he was for now as he shifted to sit down fully on the floor a little more relaxed as one of the lioness blood was here as well. He was curious and spoke to them.

How did you come to be lost from home to this realm? Was this exile or command from Ra when the wars began to prevent the enemies of our realm from running to the other realms?

Females were the healers of the warriors and Guardians so there was little reason for them to shift though Sekmet did grant that ability to some of her warrior healers

Dev's mother met and held Lilura's eyes, before they shifted to the Guardian as he kneeled, although she was calm there seemed a soothing aura that emanated from her as the corner of her lip curled up in an almost smirk but more a soft smile that gave her a regal look to her, Then Katie's eyes returned to Lilura's and nodded, as if confirming her thoughts. With a sigh she laid a hand on Kurt's shoulder giving him an apologetic look. Kurt was confused at first as he looked up to his wife frowning "Katie?" She stood and smiled, lifting her hand and turning it palm up the book floated from Kurt's lap, his eyes widening as it came to rest in his wifes hands, a sorrowful smile on her lips.

Interesting... Sons of Bast were allowed to wander the realms but the Warrior healers of Sekmet were always kept closer to home. Your power loss... Being cut off from Sekmet could have... Your powers began to fade then after Dev's birth they vanished?

Katie took in a breath, Kurt just stared up at, realizing his wife had hid more from him then he knew, she smiled as the book continued to float unassisted mid air, Katie flipping threw a few pages "Im sorry dear, i should have told you, but in my visions i was instructed to remain silent and watch over everyone. " Katie looked to Lilura "I have two forms, ......actually, Lioness, and Black Tiger, " she looked to the book running her fingers over the ancient tome the obvious astonishment on kurt's face telling he knew nothing about his wifes abilities. "

How did you come to be lost from home to this realm? Was this exile or command from Ra when the wars began to prevent the enemies of our realm from running to the other realms?

The Sadness returned to Katie's eyes as she turned a few more pages "We were sent here, along with a handful of warriors, to hide, to heal. But to protect this realm mostly should the gods ever return to once more to steer humans in the desired direction or destroy them for their heathen ways" the book returned to her hands and she closed it laying it back on the shelf "The war was spinning out of control and nearly destroyed all civilization, Ra, and a handful of other gods from various pantheons, Greek, Celtic, Norse, combined their powers to force a shift within the ethers and realms of man, to protect this realm they forced everyone into exile and abandoned us sealing the gates between realms. But they left a pittance of their powers behind with guardians and healers to watch over their creations. Over time many died as the power slowly dispursed. Others just abandoned their training and let their knowledge and skills fade and eventually became normal humans, died, as humans."

Dev just blinked at his mother, his jaw slack "Mom? what are you saying? you're???" She smiled "Didnt i teach you to never ask a lady her age young man? especially your mother?" Dev choked

Lilura shook her head.

Ra banishing me did not stop the war as he had planned I see. I was cast away from Khonsu Bast and Sekmet for no reason then.

She sighed curling closer into Dev's embrace. The guardian looked back to his Priestess.

You have been reunited with the blood of home Priestess that is good... Yes?

She smiled nodding to him.

Yes it is. Kurt were you part of her arrival here? We're you mated before arriving here?

She glanced to Dev's brother who seemed far too quiet to her.

Ra banishing me did not stop the war as he had planned I see. I was cast away from Khonsu Bast and Sekmet for no reason then.

Katie gave her a sad smile, a motherly smile almost, as Dev curled his arm around his mate, leaning in to softly nuzzle at her neck not wanting to disturb the talk, while he really had nothing to say he was still floored by the fact his mother held such power within her, and was faarrrr older then even he knew she'd hidden it all from them and judging by the look of shock and concern on his fathers face he'd at least assumed dad had known. Nice to see the old man could still be fooled as well. Rubbing his eyes he checked his watch knowing well it was after midnight. Looking to the guardian he spoke softly "Neteru, you can return home, it is growing late, and while the magic around us has calmed, im sure the young are still upset, please let them know what has happened and we are alright" The Guardian blinked, surprised at being called by his Egyptian name he nodded in agreement and rose to leave.

Kurt were you part of her arrival here? We're you mated before arriving here?

Dev's father blinked and startled like he'd been surprised "Umm.........No, my Father told me that we were descendants of the original protectors" Kurt looked to Katie, his eyes were clouded, confused, but he wanted to talk to his wife in private, he didnt know why but he felt hurt she'd kept such serious information from him but he laid his hand lovingly on her own and gave it a squeeze "Katie and i met nearly 225 years ago, i was living in San Fransico at the time" Dev choked "225 years???? dad?? how old are you? i mean, i know you told me because of our magic we have longer lifespans then normal humans, hell im 86." Kurt scoffed "still a pup" dev glared and Kurt smirked "I know your grandfather is nearing 400, but im not sure he has too many years left, i dont know just how long any of our family has lived, " Kurt looked to Katie he knew she was ancient compared to him, but he still couldnt fathom it.

Dev felt Lilura shift slightly and followed her gaze to his brother who had been mostly quiet throughout everything, but the bewildered look on his face had said it all, all of this was new to him as well, although he didnt look like he was adjusting as well to the news "Remy? you ok?" Remy blinked then seemed to focus, shaking his head to clear the cob webs "umm....i.....well hell, i dont really know, i mean, we studied together i mean, dad raised us with the stories and things but, well, " Remy made a vague motion to the guardian as he left "Im just...............well..............fuck........"

"its getting late, and it has been an...............interesting day......." Katie said, smiling gently as she rose to stand "Why dont we call it a night, Dev said you had others you were watching over, why dont you come over for dinner tommorow night and we can continue were we left off?"

""""""""""""""""""""""""""

As the moon peaked a lone lamp was burning, the soft etching of quill on paper a figure sat, the ancient egyptian markings and hieroglyphs coming to life as the ink was drawn then forming into modern day writing, a note for a messenger, but it was the soft beating of wings and the light screech at the window that drew his attention, with a motion from his hand the lock on the window clicked, as the window opened the hawk's form shimmered and changed, a tall male leaned against the window, his black duster flowing around him as his form settled "You were right to watch them, the Priestess Mate is of royal blood, The mother, if not the father, are the guardians of the gateway, they may be the ones we need to break the seal....."

Lilura nodded to Katie then looked to Kurt.

I can tell you...when Sekmet says not to say anything it is law and I am sure your father would tell you the same thing. She is not someone to disobey so... Meditate on it.

Looking back to Katie.

Dinner would be wonderful and Remy... If you wish to ask anything of me you can.

She smiled only to pause for a moment looking to Katie as a soft power seemed to appear then vanish...Lilura whispered... Sekmet... Bast.

I can tell you...when Sekmet says not to say anything it is law and I am sure your father would tell you the same thing. She is not someone to disobey so... Meditate on it.

Kurt nodded, seeming to relax a bit at that information, yes, he would ask, but right now he just needed to ground himself and relax, the events of tonight took turns he had not expected, and in light of new information he felt shaken, that everything he thought he knew had been a lie....Kurt looked to Katie who just had a serene smile on her face. They rose and walked everyone to the door. As Dev and Lilura left Katie sighed and turned to her husband, a soft smile on her face taking his hand she kissed Kurt and just cuddled against him. Returning to their room they laid in bed snuggled and talked. Kurt was stunned by most of it but having seen everything tonight it didn't seem to shake him as badly now they could process and think on it. Eventually they drifted off to sleep unaware of the eye's watching them now.

Dev looked to the sky as they walked, it had cooled tonight, Fall was approaching he could always feel the shift in nature. Birds growing restless to take flight south, the change in the trees and the shift of magic. he held her hand, lost in thought, for the second time now in the past few months his reality had been shaken. Everything he thought he knew again turned out to be not necessarily a lie, but more was hidden then he had ever dreamed. He Looked to his mate, squeezing her hand he gave her a soft smile but couldn't hide the pain in his eyes. She'd given him so much in such a small time, taught him new magic, and how to commune with nature, helped him better control his furry half which too had seemed to grow in power, he felt stronger with her by his side.

"Have i ever told you how much i love you sweetheart?" he spoke quietly as they approached their home. "I hate feeling like this, lost.....i cant think.....Dad........Mom of all things..." he scoffed, even to dev's own ears he sounded pathetic, a little kid cut adrift on a life raft and sinking fast. "My Mom, an ancient? " Dev shook his head as they walked in, the kids looking up from the TV, getting up quickly they moved to them, chattering excitedly, "are you ok? what happened? we thought we lost you" dev smiled as they all spoke at once. "now now children, mommy and daddy are purrrrfectly fine" dev growled lightly in playfulness which caused them to scoff and tease back, but they quickly settled down "we all need rest i think, we can talk in the morning, a lot has changed in the last few hours that it would take till morning to explain."

The kids whinned but agreed, already nearing 2am they slunk off to bed, leaving dev, Lilura and the guardian looking at each other then the guardian bowed and went downstairs to the makeshift room he'd been given. Dev smiled softly and took Lilura's hands. Kissing her knuckles softly he pressed them to his forehead, head bowed softly before he pulled back "lets get some rest babe" leanin in he kissed her softly placing his forehead on hers

She smiled to him and closed her eyes as their foreheads touched. Her head turned as if sensing something. She smirked with whisper as one of her wards around the property went active. Within a few moments they heard the shreek of a hawk and the crackle of electricity.

Well now that our guest is resting and no one can get in to get it and it can't get out let's sleep and perhaps teach the cubs interrogation tomorrow.

Her eyes sparkled as she simply glanced to the window then turned to walk upstairs leading Dev with her.

Dev smiled and had started to pull back when he felt her look away, he was about to ask what was up when he heard the screech and the crackle, blinking he looked back to the grin on his mates face and shook his head Well now that our guest is resting and no one can get in to get it and it can't get out let's sleep and perhaps teach the cubs interrogation tomorrow.

Dev laughed as his mate lead the way to their room, his eyes falling to her ass, watching it sway with her walk he grinned "You...my love.......are a scary women...." he chuckled softly knowing the trap had snared the hawk and he wouldn't be going anywhere till they released the wards encasing it. Cupping her ass and giving it a gentle squeeze he went into their bathroom and disrobed. He eyed the shower but opted instead to just wash at the sink. His hand idly tracing the scar across his left pectoral he sustained when he'd been launched into the wall by the God creature thing that now roamed their plain. It'd healed but the scar still felt tender to the touch yet, scrubbing himself he turned out the light and crawled into bed, letting go a heavy sigh he spooned his body against his mates back, inhaling the scent of her hair he kissed the back of her neck and softly nipped at her shoulder. "I love you" His arm laid gently across her stomach as they snuggled Dev let the exhaustion wash over him and it wasn't long till the warmth and scent of her lulled him to sleep.

As he slept dreams came and went, as they always did, vague, faces covered in a vail of shadow, voices, But this night one face wasn't hidden, his mother, looking still so regal as ever, dressed in white silk she was talking to someone but again Dev couldn't see past the shadows despite his efforts to try and remove the haze. Fast forward, his mom was running, sounds of battle, he heard himself call out to her, or someone that sounded like him, Then a scream and dev startled, coming awake with a gasp he lay there, through the fall of lilura's hair he could see the streamers of sunlight through the blinds, lifting his head barely he glanced at the clock and silently groaned, it was only past 6am, Dev let his head drop back to the pillow silently cursing and closed his eyes again to see if sleep would return

Scary... How so love?

A little wriggle of hips as they walked into their room. She pondered for a moment sinking into the bath but chose sleep over anything feeling a sudden overwhelm of exhaustion and barely alert enough to get changed she heard his words and kiss as they laid there.

Love you...

It was for the most part a dreamless sleep though something sought to be remembered... Sekmet... Speaking with her but a much younger her.

~My sacred little one you will never be far from us no matter the realm nor world... We will always find form near you~

She cried in her sleep till she felt Dev stir and jump.

Dev felt the shift in lilura's body, the change in her breathing as she slept and he frowned, his hand soothingly stroked her stomach, he felt her stir then and knew she'd awakened, he propped himself up on one arm and brushed the hair from her face with the other, saw the trail of tears in her eyes and frowned more, his voice was soft "whats wrong? Your dreams scattered too?" his voice was drawn with concern as he looked to the beauty beside him, shifting slightly so she could roll to face him he cupped her cheek and leaned in to kiss her softly licking away her tears.

"i had a vision again, this time i could see my mom's face, she was talking to someone, then all hell broke loose and she ran, i woke after that, what did you see that brought such sadness to your heart my love?" He kissed her again then let himself sink back into the covers as he pulled her against him lightly, stroking her back.

The Guardian woke from his trace-like sleep and rose, he felt the wards stir last night but had been in his regenerative slumber. Rising he listened, taking stock of who may be awake, sensing no movement he rose. Moving upstairs and into the kitchen he looked out into the backyard. Eyes quickly finding the trapped bird that seemed to be bound in spider's silk he grinned "So you are a stupid bird, falling for my Priestess trap" the bird squawked as he drew near. The Guardian calling an enchanted dagger to his hand it materialized in a golden flash. "My Priestess and her mate would be interested in you i think" the bird struggled more and snapped at the guardians hand, he felt the magic surround the bird but bound as he was it was unable to shift forms. The dagger cut the strands of magic binding the bird as the guardian strengthened the wards around them to ensure the bird would not escape as he freed the last tendril of the spell. With a flash the bird transformed and lunged, but the guardian was faster as he caught the were-hunter by the throat and leveled him with a huge fist to the face. The male sagged in his arms and was quickly bound again hand and foot, tossing the male over his broad shoulders the guardian returned inside.

Looking around the guardian frowned realizing they really had nothing to keep the hunter in he conjured a large cage in the center of the living room and tossed the unconscious body inside and locked it

She sighed curling against him.

I was sitting with Sekmet and her words... Learning your mother was one of her healers... Had I not been so stubborn against interacting with this world...

She sighed and laid there close her eyes closing letting his warmth and closeness comfort her.

The cubs watched the guardian with the stranger most keeping a safe distance but not her... The young cub walked up to the cage and stared at him.

Who do you spy for? Why do you hunt our family?
