Please tell me I am over-reacting?

Non-Consent? Yep yep. Rape? Yep yep - in this state at least. Bad taste? Yep yep.

Over reacting? Could well be ;)

True story? Not very likely.

Hi Falling,

I'm speaking purely unofficially here. I don't moderate the area in question.

"This is true" is a device in many stories at lit. One can NOT assume that the following is true. It must be treated as a story (fiction).

It is a story of a rape; nonviolent, carried out by use of drugs.

It is an abusive and illegal act.

That said, there are several rape stories at Lit. They aren't all "ravishment fantasies," stories of reluctance followed by enthusiastic participation and colossal orgasms.

As I understand the Lit guidlines, rape stories that do NOT feature extremes of violence are allowed. Further, in the 'horror' section there are some pretty violent stories of rape and murder.

It might be noted that in the story, the wife IS portrayed, though asleep, as showing sexual motions and apparent pleasures. (Though legally that is immaterial as to the crime of rape.)

You have a right to avoid stories about acts that are illegal and/or abusive. I'm not sure if you'll succeed in having it taken down; that's part of 'freedom of expression.'
===

PS: Falling, it appears your protest has caused the story to be suspended from viewing (unclear for how long). Ironically that will prevent any further people from reading what you are protesting and having a basis for an opinion.

Pure rubbish with a 99% chance of it being complete fiction, but still not worthy of being on this site.

Will someone read that story and tell me that I'm over-reacting? AS far as I'm concerned, it is RAPE and he's claiming that it is a true story... I'm going to PM the link to Laurel and ask her to look into it, but I'm so mad I'm shaking right now.

I haven't seen the story but from the comments of others I'd say I know which story you're mentionning.

Someone came in the EF a week/10 days ago asking for an editor for a 'true-life' rape story and it sure sounds like the one you're talking about.

The wife is given some kind of drugs to make her more pliable, multiple men have their ways with her, husband watches and enjoys the show etc...etc...

When that 'writer' came to the EF to get an editor for that story, he got turned down and called sick by everyone, either by PM or on the board.

If it's the same 'writer' looks like someone took him on. :(

It wasn't that well-written, so I don't know. I clicked it randomly- and nearly vomited. I read it all the way to the end, hoping for a redemption- maybe he and the wife had set up an act of kindness for a beloved older friend... but no. It was just sick.

Whether it was true or not, he claimed it was. I have no problem with rape fantasies- have you seen my Av?- but claiming "I did this, this is how I did it, and it got me off" in effect glorifying a rape you claimed to have committed and getting patted on the back for it... no.

I wasn't the only one to complain about it to the author- all 4 comments on the story were basically- "you are a sick fuck."

While probably not true, I understand your concerns, Falling. For someone to CLAIM that it is a true story is disturbing enough. And we can't be sure whether they are lying or not. They could be boasting, but what kind of sick mind boasts of committing a violent crime against his or her spouse, no less? Oh, well, it should be investigated, at least. It's people like this who increase the risk of the State cracking down on porn and censoring us. It's one thing to call it fiction. It's another to claim it is real.

I'm glad Laurel or whoever jumped on it. I only made the complaint a short while ago- that factthat Lit INSTANTLY took action again affirms that I am in the right place for my stories, where they take pride and care with what they do.

Well, that's basically what my Halloween story is: rape; nonviolent, carried out by use of drugs.

It's also FICTION.

I did do a rape story a few months ago. A REAL rape story about a black woman who was raped here in Portland. That was never mentioned in the story at all. The names were changed, of course, but the setting and action was true to the actual occurance. The one thing I did change was to leave out the violent beating she received and added some crap about her reacting positively to the sex.

I got threats, hate mail and so on for weeks afterwards. I'm sorry I wrote it.

I wrote a fictional rape story, lit denied it, it is over on another site. It was violent, and I didn't sugar-coat it so she liked having sex. I have since written a few NonConsent/Reluctance stories that have been approved by lit. I wonder sometimes, what makes them pass and not the other. . .the only thing I can come up with is the characters come and in their mind they think. . ."How horrible I am for enjoying this."

Jenny, it sounds like you used a real life experience and turned it into fiction. That isn't a crime. If it is then there are a lot of things on lit that shouldn't be posted.

I didn't read the story, but if it was true then it was a crime and it is illegal and shouldn't have been posted on lit. Now. . .

If the writer resubmits and takes out the proclamation.... This is a true story. . . what would the feedback be then?

Well, that's a bit different. Perhaps of questionable taste, but you didn't claim to BE the rapist. That's the difference IMO. I don't think that people should brag about committing crimes on the Internet without some kind of investigation as to whether they are in fact criminals or just morons.

No. The setting was real. The rape occured. But I have no idea what the action was since the white perps were never caught or even looked for. So the story had to be fiction.

When I wrote the story I generalized it to a great extent. There is a long history in Portland of White men driving around the Black neighborhoods looking for women, with rape as a comon outcome. The story really portrays that activity which I find personally abhorant.

Oh okay, my misunderstanding.

I think one of the problems with this story is that it wasn't put in the NonConsent/Reluctance category, it is currently in the Loving Wives category. I don't think the readers of LW were expecting a rape story.

Which shouldn't be a problem then. It's obviously meant as a serious drama, not an attempt to get off on an actual rape.

Please don't hurt me, but I have a question. I didn't get to read the story before it went to the moderator, but...

Wouldn't the story fall under the 'freedom of speech' guidelines?

I know that rape is illegal, and I'm sure that Laurel and Manu will pull it for that reason, to protect the site and themselves (or at the very least will make the author remove the assertion that it's a true story). But, does it fall into the same category as the woman we were discussing the other day? (My asking doesn't mean that I don't think the author is a 'sick fuck' or that I think they should have posted the story.)

Please don't blast me, it's a legitimate question.

It is a good question and you shouldn't be blasted.

I believe if one confesses to a crime, you are jeopardizing yourself to be prosecuted. It may be freedom of speech, but depending on the crime it will still get you in trouble. Here it sounds like a written confession, which is more jeopardizing if identities could be figured and if charges were filed. Where as a verbal confession would have a harder time holding up.

Again. . . all this is just a thought. I too didn't read the story.

I am curious if the writer removed the "I did it" factor. . .would the comments be just as bad? or would this story be accepted by the readers who enjoy this particular fantasy?

Exactly.

While I may think the story is sick (although I haven't read it), free speech applies to EVERYONE.

I think people who feel vindicated that it was taken down should be ashamed of themselves. Free speech doesn't just apply to who you want it to. Several years ago there was a really badly written story that depicted Indians as complete drunken idiots whose only desire in life was to fuck a white woman. Did I hate it? Yes. Did I ask for it to be taken down? Absolutely not.

Most likely, the "this is a true story" is just like all the other "true stories" out there.

Shame on you.

I did read the story. Was it really true? I very much doubt it. The story is more like the fantasy of a 13 year old trying to act adult. I believe the story was most likely fiction.

Was it in bad taste. Definately. The idea of a drug rape is a pretty awful thought. The idea that this was perpetrated on his wife is even more so.

Was a Rape crime committed? Depends on the State. In this State, if the story were true, definately. Other States I cannot answer about.

Does this fall under free speech? Yes, you can say anything you want to incriminate yourself as long as you are not committing slander or liable against another person.

Frankly, I didn't really see all that much wrong with the story except for the first paragraph where this clown claims it's a true story and how hot it makes him just to think about it. But then I suppose injury to the person you are supposed to love and the resulting pending divorce is hot to some weirdos.
