as to the child issue, LA contributed this to a thread of people (besides himself) who've had stories not accepted.

LAW [8-18-06] They try to be clean on here [at Literotica]. Kids are out in the world fucking each other in 4 and 5 grades but we [would be Lit authors] can't do shit. everyone has to be over 18. but if it was a friend of the site, their shit gets posted. Go look at the monthly winners and editors picks...all friends that help the site.

I don't think that anything we can do or say is going to convince the people writing to the Citizen that what was posted was innocuous.

Their convictions are not amenable to reason.

I am sad that this demonstrates that Free Speech is a dead letter in many parts of the US (and the UK) if it offends a vociferous minority.

We in Literotica are vulnerable to attack at any time. The rules about no sex under age 18, no bestiality etc. would protect us for a little while but if a serious challenge was made - Lit would be gone.

We have to be careful to avoid antagonising the so-called 'moral majority' if we want to continue. Cowardly? Perhaps. Realistic? I regret that it is.

We have to deal with the world as it is, not how we would like it to be.

I am convinced that the screaming mob is not just there but latent in many communities in the Western democracies. Beyond the democracies, what we write, however innocuous it may seem, could lead to imprisonment.

One of our local councillors starred in some sex videos when a student. That became known. He shrugged it off as something he did for the money to get through university. some of the comments directed at LAW, in the Fayetteville newspaper, are exaggerated and hysterical sounding. since his wife and daughters deny there is any problem *in real life* and no one has produced any evidence to the contrary, he is NOT to be judged as having been involved in any criminal acts-- child molestation in particular. there is a court process for reaching such a conclusion, not letters to the editor.

as other posters have said, LA would do best to re locate and take a new name, and write whatever he wishes under a penname.

i do not like lynch mobs. that said, someone who is so public about writing stories many of the town find offensive is either brass balled, or very unwise. some of his stories are clearly located in Fayetteville.

perhaps mr LA needs some good legal advice before it's too late, and a ticket out of that town, which is apparentlly, in part, a nest of scorpions. HOWEVER, it is clear that some townspeople are NOT in the mob, and are calling for calm and forgiveness. one person has offered to fix LA's house.

if LA would learn to control his public image a bit, he would benefit. i do not know the person at all, but no evidence of 'bad character' that has been presented. it is perhaps true--based on what we know so far-- that he is simply monumentally naive. he needs to learn fast and keep his head down a bit. and almost certainly re locate.

some of the guidelines reflect concern about possible and pending changes in the laws regarding material which depicts sexual acts with minors, where such material is posted to the internet.
