I've been trying to write a story for about 3 months now. My significant other asked for me to write a story about us. One evening where we broke all the rules and did anything that came to mind. I've having a bit of trouble putting into words what I can say to him. I know what I want to do, I know what I can write about, I just can't seem to figure out how to put it on paper. If anyone could...give me examples...I guess, just anything so I can at least start this. please please please I would be forever in your debt. THANK YOU!

A wise and experienced writer friend of mine told me, "just let the words flow from your mind through your fingers until you run out of words. Then delete the two-thirds that is total garbage and edit the remainder into a story."

thank you very much!! and by the way, how the hell do i change status from virgin to anything else. i'm new to this board.

Post 28 more times. :p

The virgin tag is a user level. 30 post to become experienced, 100 to get an avatar, and 1000 to pick your own level are the pertinent levels. There's also "Literotica Guru" at 500 posts, but they don't really make youwear a diaper and live in a cave, so it's pretty much symbolic.

Thanks for telling me that, I've been wondering how many more of these I'll have to write to get rid of the 'virgin' status.

One more down...

I had been wondering the exact same thing... that would be a good thing to put someplace if it isn't already... course now I'll feel like an idiot if it is already up someplace and I missed it... oh well... at least I got one more post in... LOL

Outline maybe?

One thing I do to get myself start is outline my story. I basically put down a major heading for beginning and ending, and then one for each significant major even that occurs in my story. From there, I just start filling in minor headings and putting bullets under those. I get it to the point where each subheading will be a paragraph or two. Then I just write those paragraphs. It is much easier for me to just write one paragraph at a time, then try to start a complete story. Sometimes I skip headings I'm not ready to write yet, and other times I write them all in order. Sometimes I'll just write the sex parts and then go back and fill in the "other" stuff. LOL. This is just kinda my style, so don't take my words as the gospel or anything. Once I get it written then I put it away for awhile until I'm ready to come back and do editing and rewriting.

The toughest part of writing for me is getting started also. I'm sure other writers have different means of getting started. Plus, I'm an engineer type so I'm probably talking outta my ass, but I know what works for me.

Just my two cents... hope it helps.

I'm very, very, very, very tired. But I couldn't stop myself from answering this post. The answer to your dilemma is simple. Put a single word on the paper, like 'Deep'. Do a sentence that goes with that word. 'Deep within the heat of a dark night I turn to him.' Go on from there. It really does work. Use it all the time. It's when I leave off in the middle of a scene that I have problems. So I leave off in the middle of a sentence.

This is a great writing exercise I use to get in the mood, or get the words flowing.

Open your dictionary at random three times and write down one word from each page.

Empty your mind and sit down to write. The only rule is that you must write for 5 solid minutes, no pauses, no stopping to think, and that you must use all three words in whatever you write.

Just let it flow from your subconscious.

I'd say that 50% of the time the result is pure, unadulterated garbage, but the rest of the time I end up with an idea for a story that I can use.

More importantly though, 100% of the time it puts me in a writing mood and loosens up my brain.

Try it, it just might work for you.

Something I've done before...

If I totally cannot get anything going, I will sometimes just sit back in my chair or lay on the couch and kinda day dream. Basically, I will put myself in the situation I want to write about and just let my mind wonder, kinda live through the story myself first. About half way thru it, I'll be so jazzed up with something to write that I'll pop up and just start regurgitating what I just day-dreamed about while it's still fresh in my mind. And by regurgitating, I mean just letting it flow. Just get the story on the paper and then go back and fix the mistakes.

Another two cents...

Re:please help me

small, arial, royal blue

Why don't you try to write your story like you were describing the experience to a close friend. Write it as though you were telling it, that's usually how I write mine:)

Try this:

"Talk about a good time, let me tell you what happened last night".

Then finish the story, and erase the first line. Works for me when I'm writing true life.

Good luck

well, i've compiled most of your ideas and have a pretty good start. if interested, i will keep you all updated, then maybe send it in. (but i'm still taking any suggestions!) thanks again!

eek, i guess i'm not helping myself to not be a "virgin" by replying without signing in. so maybe this will help. i have about 5 pages finished and i think i'm going to keep maybe 2-2 1/2. :D we'll see. thanks again for all your help.
