Please explain to me why English taxpayers should pay room and board for Alan Webster for the rest of his life. Was it because a 12-week-old baby led him on? Is it because he might reform in prison? IMNTHO the boy needs running lessons. Running while hanging by his neck from a tree. Comment?

Babysitters jailed for baby rape

Alan Webster had a "malign influence" over Tanya French. Two babysitters have been jailed for raping a 12-week-old baby girl and taking pictures of the abuse.

Alan Webster, 40, and his girlfriend Tanya French, 19, both from Hatfield in Hertfordshire, pleaded guilty to rape and making indecent images.

Webster was given a life sentence at St Albans Crown Court; French was jailed for five years.

International law enforcers alerted police after Webster downloaded 7,000 indecent images from the internet.

"There are no words to express the abhorrence such offending generates." Judge Findlay Baker.

The baby's mother was unaware of the abuse until detectives visited her home after finding photographs detailing the abuse at Webster's home.

Sentencing Webster, Judge Findlay Baker said the offences were committed against the "most vulnerable victim - a little baby."

"There are no words to express the abhorrence such offending generates," he added.

Sentencing French, he said: "You did not shrink away from the acts in which you joined, but looked forward to them."

But he said French was also a victim and had come under Webster's "malign influence" and was to some extent "corrupted by him".

French admitted four charges of rape, five indecent assaults, two charges of permitting indecent images to be taken of children and two counts of making indecent images of the child in February and March 2004.

Webster admitted one charge of rape, four indecent assaults, two charges of permitting indecent images to be taken of children and two counts of making indecent images of children.

Webster also admitted a separate charge of indecently assaulting a 14-year-old girl and seven offences of possessing child abuse images.

The only "good" thing is child molesters usually have a pretty rough time in prison. It'd be nice to think that'll be the case with him.

Not all nations and cultures share your enthusiasm for captiol punishment. Clearly we are dealing with something pathological rather than criminal.

i think that death is too easy for them.
if i could hand down a sentence...i would make them have a cell that is plastered with pictures of the people they abuse... have their voices piped into the cell...their explanation of what they are going through now, played over and over again.

ofcourse, im not opposed to them being abused by other cell mates. but i have a feeling its alot less prolific than believed.

be ready for June 16th. he gets out that day. my stomach's in knots.

its no secret that i straddle the fence when it comes to the death penalty. i dont know that im someone who could make that judgement without severe ramifications on my side. probably because if i didnt have guilt in my life...i wouldnt know how to function. (working on this)

that being said...if he were to show up on my doorstep...i would possibly be the next one in jail.

A 12-week-old bbay can't talk. If they carefully cleaned up the baby and then let it take a nap, maybe the baby would just assume that it was a normal part of its existence.

I must politely disagree. The criminal may or may not be insane. If the criminal is insane, it indicates an inability of the system to detect and deal with his insanity. Letting something like that live is putting genes we do not want into the human gene pool.

I started a thread some time back that fizzled out pretty quick. I guess folks didn't have the stomach for it. It was all about the punishments that we would like to see carried out against particular criminals or types of criminals. This would be a great one for that thread. I'm sure we could come up with some really imaginative punishments for this one.

Rape usually indicates penetration of some sort, in the general vernacular. since he got life, I'm guessing it was penetration of some sort... (but if it WAS I can't imagine the mother NOT knowing something was wrong!) although it could be (I know the laws here, but not in England) that sex with a minor under a certain age carries a life sentence there...

Do the 'International law enforces' regularly snoop on internet users download habits? Or was this a mis-statement and they meant to say 'too the internet.' instead of 'from the internet.'

I too, think the both of them should be drawn and quartered. Prison is the easy way out for the both of them.

Police departments around the globe are in investigation of child porn on a day by day basis. The investigations are usually not just "snooping." They catch one pervert and then backtrack said pervert's contacts. When they find one or more of the contacts downloading large amounts of data from the 'Net, they investigate.

Well if they happen to 'snoop' on my download activity they may get the wrong idea as I 'download' terabytes of data on a daily basis. It is also encrypted so 'snoops' wouldn't be able to determine what was being downloaded.

I also upload multi-megabytes of data in the same manner and although this data is not saved to disk, 'they' wouldn't know this.

Without knowing exactly what happened or how 'rape' is defined in the Brit legal system, I can't answer that, but I think it's reasonable to ask just how the mother would be likely to find out about the rape from a pre- or barely-verbal infant unless there were pretty obvious physical signs. Even older children who can report abuse often don't- from fear, shame or embarassment. There are also traumatic disorders that such assaults frequently cause in young children, which cause their minds to dissociate from the trauma- hiding it from themselves in some corner of the brain. There, the traumatic events are beyond conscious recall, but their emotional effects continue to poison the child's life. Parents are often at a complete loss to understand why the child is moody, upset, fearful or angry, or all of these in succession, and the child is unable to tell them.

As for that other thing... A baby that young is usually tiny. They have tiny parts. If they were raped (my personal definition anyway) the physical signs would be pretty obvious during a routine diaper change if a parant gave a half a second's worth of attention to what they were doing.

God, not to get too graphic *shudder* but if they simply wanted to take pics of penetration (which is part of most pedophile's interest, little parts and penetration) they could have used a thinner object so as not to physically harm the baby... and to the eyes of the law, at least here in the states, penetration is penetratiion, even a finger.
