I think there might be more to this story than the news report.

Perhaps the mother was banned from contacting, or letting her daughter associate with, the stabbed man?

If the daughter thought she was being forced to conceal evidence of a felony, that might be considered cruelty. Whether it is or not, it still doesn't come close to reaching the level of what I consider cruelty. :eek:
 
The cruelty here is allowing that child to continue living in that environment. If there was ever a case for protective custody of a minor, this is it. :mad:
 
Most child cruelty statutes cover a wide arrange of acts.

Forcing a child to participate in a criminal act is covered by those statutes.

Tampering with evidence is a criminal act.
