Um...there is only one thread in the library about fireplay and it involves Hannakuh candles  So now I wanna know:

1) What activities do you think qualify as fire play?

2) What is the appeal?

3) What are the risks/dangers (imagining scorched eybrows and 6months wearing a wig lol)

4) What supplies are necessary?

5) Where do I find pictures?

6) Is wax included or is that another area entirely?

7) What are some good resources/links where I could learn more?

Any stories about your experiences or demos you've seen would also be pretty cool. I just have no clue where to start looking to see if this is something worth exploring or not. Thank you in advance for any insight or information. It will be much appreciated. :rose:

I know there have been some good discussions on this with info from some experienced posters..will post links if I have time to search and do find them.

1) What activities do you think qualify as fire play?
I'll go with activities that use fire, including (but not limited to), fire torches, wands, floggers, whips, lighting alcohol on the skin, flash cotton...

2) What is the appeal?
For me, it requires a lot of trust, skill and the danger makes for a big adrenaline rush as both a top and bottom.

3) What are the risks/dangers (imagining scorched eybrows and 6months wearing a wig lol)
Lighting someone on fire, serious burns, death.

4) What supplies are necessary?
It depends on what you want to do and how you feel comfortable going about it. Some of the essentials for me for using wands and lighting streaks of alcohol are:
-70% Isopropyl Alcohol
-Sturdy wands with 100% cotton wicks
-A tall, heatproof container for soaking wands (I use a metal one from IKEA)
-Large bowls of water and ice
-A safe/sturdy platform
-A long lighter (like the ones for BBQs, fireplaces, etc.)
-A sturdy, natural-fiber tarp
-A fire extinguisher
-A piece of tightly woven, natural cloth (denim, canvas, etc.) to cover the back of the head/neck if I'm working on the upper back

It's great, but not strictly necessary, to have another person standing by to help and jump in in case of emergency, too.

6) Is wax included or is that another area entirely?
Many people group wax and fire together, but I think the only similarities are heat and burn potential. I think wax is often a very good, less intimidating, place to start if you're interested in fireplay.

7) What are some good resources/links where I could learn more?

There's plenty to read online, but I'd suggest finding some skilled locals, going to demos, taking workshops, etc. Finding local BDSM groups, like munches and clubs, is a good way to meet experienced people and learn about events in your area. If you're interested in Topping for wax or fire, I'd advise bottoming first, so you can get an idea of the different sensations various techniques produce.
