Plastic Surgery

Actually, a F cup [DDD] is just about average anymore, size wise. The women who come in the shop who've gone through reductions at that size lose maybe 3-5# of tissue - maybe. Granted, it's a lot of weight to carry on your chest, but I rarely see back problems in women who are less than a FF/G, and wear a properly fitted bra. Out of curiosity, have you been fitted, or are you guessing that you're a DDD?

Another thing to consider if if you plan on having children/breastfeeding someday. A reduction will mean severing all the ductwork in the breasts and relocating/reattaching the nipple. It is possible to breastfeed after a reduction, but does tend to make things more difficult.

Maybe you just need to work on back strengthening exercisess & keep your rack ;)

Can I ask how old you are ?

He's got a point. Physical therapy is all well and good, but some hardcore weight bearing excercise may be the thing. I'm almost 30 and haven't once had an issue with my back because it's so strong.
Go to a proper bra store and get fitted for a fully supportive bra. Stop buying online, I reckon that's half your poblem (and be prepared to fork over the cash).
It's pretty drastic to chop your boobs at 19. Mine went up 3 cup sizes between the age of 19 and 25.

I am a G, and have been fortunate that I don't have any problems with the back... well, as far as the breasts go anyway. A neighbor of mine had her's done, and was off work for 3 mo, but doesn't regret it at all. Also.. keep in mind that having the reduction now doesn't mean that they won't continue to grow afterwards. I have heard that in some cases they can grow larger following a reduction.

I know for me it seemed like every time I was off my BCP and started taking them again, I grew an additional cup size. I was a DD at 13... *sigh*...

Sucks that the insurance companies don't recognize it as being an issue, especially considering your age.

Choose F...Choose F...lol no I'm just kidding...yep I know not to go to some cheapo guy in a back ally...hehe. The sucky thing is if I want the insurance to pay for it I have to go one of their chosen doctors....now which one has the lowest mortality rate....(I'm j/k....although now that I mention it I think I should check that out.)

I decided to choose A. It's true. I am pretty hot.

Don't believe her! She doesn't know anything - she's just a blue-eyed blonde with big boobs and ....... um ........ well

Wow, she's pretty! Can i stalk *you* now??!?!?!?

Hey! What am I now? Chopped livah?

hhhmmm wow, um, like, how can i maintain my reputation if i promise to *not* go all psychopath?

In all seriousness, it is a very personal decision. CM made quite a few good points. I'm sure you've had your MD appointments and consultations, and if they are on board with you on the surgery, and that is what you want to do, then more power to you.

Maybe strength training would help, but ultimately it is your decision.

I think it's great that your health insurance has approved MDs for this. Normally it's a PIA, but I think it'll help you narrow down your choices, and the fact that the health insurance is okay with them, means that they'll probably use sterile instruments on you - you know, as opposed to a rusty butterknife.

Good luck.

Hmmm, even with crusty stuff coming out of my nipple ring? Hawt.
*cracks up laughing*

My rings got so crusty and it hurt when they twisted around so I switched to barbells, now I just brush a little crust off each side now and then. :D

Afraid I have nothing useful to contribute re: plastic surgery or breast reduction, though.

Wow you all make some great points....I have indeed been fitted before...that was how I found out about the next cup size up...ugh.

I also have an MRI scheduled for my back...just in case in might be something else...though the MD seems to think it is because I am so top heavy.

Very good point about the breastfeeding too...in all honesty I hadn't planned on breastfeeding but I am not sure I am willing to give up the option even before I have children (if that day comes...I'm still not even sure about that.)

I really want to see the results of the MRI before I go any further...I really appreciate all of your guys' suggestions. They have been very helpful!

Now I just have to dig up the courage to go in the MRI machine...I'm a tad bit claustrophobic so I am dreading that....

Thanks Again everyone!

Good luck darling.

I'd suggest expressing your discomfort and asking your MD give you an Ativan or something before hand if you're really feeling like you can't do it.
We do that for claustrophobic patients at work all the time.

If they're still growing, you should probably wait. You don't want to have to go back in and get it done a second time. Improving your posture, exercise, therapy, better support devices, etc... are all good ideas in the meantime. And do continue investigating other causes. Surgery is definitely a last resort, so do be patient.

I am 5'7...so I am not too short...but I have seen a doc about my back and he says my bad posture and back pain are because the weight of my girls.

More likely the lack of spinal muscle strength. But it's easier to blame your boobs than your lack of sport.

I'd kill for breast reduction surgery. (I'm a JJ - and that's not a typo.) Unfortunately, most insurances consider breast reduction surgery to be 'unnecessary' and 'cosmetic'. Good luck.

Holy crap, I didn't know they came that big! Woza.

Yep

Yeah, anything you hear from a guy you have to take with a grain of salt, unless he has had someone close to him do the surgery. i haven't, but, i'm not a boob guy either. And, it would be presumptuous of me to claim that male pyls have more empathy than male PYLs :p

I'm sorry, did you say something?:p

I had breast reduction surgery in 1991. It was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. Because of my build, the big knockers (DDD) were causing major back and balance issues. The final straw was when I fell and broke 3 vertebrae.

At any rate, large heavy breasts can cause major damage and major pain depending on how you are built. I had a really good surgeon. I shopped around and asked questions first. Yes, there is scarring, but in time, like all scars, they fade. My scars have never scared off any guys. They take them in stride. It's all about how you see yourself anyway. If you think your girls are sexy, you'll have the right attitude and guys will pick up on it. My nipples are extremely sensitive, no problems there. They're matched well and I had no problems. The surgery itself didn't hurt much more than a bruise.

I've been with a woman, who had had a breast reduction as well, and the scarring wasn't something that scared me away at all, so you shouldn't worry about that. And if the guy you're with do gets turned off by it, he probably isn't worth much anyway ;)

Well I had my MRI on Monday and went to the doctor today to find out if it showed anything...turns out it did. Apparently the tissue between four of the disks of my spine are drying up...and causing the disks to rub together. He said the weight of my breasts can exacerbate this condition greatly but even with a breast reduction the pain would still be there probably not as intense though. Apparently you can't really do anything to treat it - more or less you can only do things to help with the symptoms...so it is more physical therapy for now...I still haven't decided on surgery though but for now I think it is going to wait.
