I have it. It's fucking agony.

Any tips, recommendations or suggestions? I've ordered some arch fit Sketchers...I'm always barefoot, don't think that's a good thing.

It is a bitch! I have found some relief from a podiatrist. He gave me inserts for my shoes that work pretty well.
Good luck.

I'll check those out ta. It is a bitch, honestly I thought I'd snapped a tendon.

Roll your foot over a frozen can of juice concentrate. Probably could just freeze water in a cup like shape for the same effect. Also do LOTS of runner’s stretch where you stretch your calves up against a wall. Both of those things work wonders for me when the old plantar fasciitis kicks up. Weird feeling to feel like there’s a rock under your foot when it’s all an internal issue. Anyway, good luck. Hope one of these might help. 🤞🙏 🦵🦶

Doing the rolling ice thing. Will look up the runners stretch. Thanks. 😘

Google foot stretches for PF. I barefoot walk a lot in my home, abt 20 miles/week, and haven't experienced plantar f. I have experienced a few bad of cases of pf from shoes I had prior to barefoot walking.

Wear good shoes with a dr scholl's heel cushion added. Get a pair of clean house shoes for inside.

It's gonna take a while to heal up.

I've had it too. Developed it after a 5K health walk. Felt like nails being pounded into my heels. Turns out I had plantar fasciitis AND heel spurs. Had to have arch support glued to my feet for a week or two, that was horrible. Ortho inserts help. Good luck and feel better!

What worked for me is changing footwear frequently, at least daily. This is more a man thing as we tend to wear the same sneakers, etc day after day.
It is painful AF. Ibuprofen will help with the inflammation.
Also, keep a towel near your bed. When you wake , before you get out of bed, hook the towel around the ball of your foot. Pull towards your chest to stretch the ligament. Over night it tends to tighten up as you probably know the morning is the most painful.

Good tip. I'll do that. My first night not sleeping on the couch was glorious. Slept 11 hrs. Just flexing my toes up now before I try for a shower.

Gentle stretches and rest.
I have a good friend who is a sports physio who'd know what to suggest - GPs will be a waste of time unless they have a sports interest. Expect to pay about £50 for a consult at a decent one - it'll be worth it if the symptoms don't ease in a few days.
If you've recently changed footwear eg because of the frigging heat, then that might have tipped underlying problems into being painful. Poor you!! :rose:

Cheers petal. Much improved today thank god. Saw the doc in casualty when I thought I snapped a ligament. Honestly I heard and felt summat go and was in agony. It's a bastard of a thing. I shall miss going barefoot but I don't want this again if I can prevent it. Its a bind not being able to get upstairs and living alone. Pip's been no help. Ginger twat.

I've an uncle who stepped awkwardly and felt a ping in his achilles during lockdown. Had two GP consults and each time was told 'it's just a strain' but it turned out he'd torn his achilles. Later a physio diagnosed it in five minutes (because that's their job). He's had to have surgery in the end because it was left so long.
Honestly, if you felt a ping then go get it checked by someone who knows what they're talking about. Hopefully it'll be nothing but don't put up with it as a nuisance. You need to promote healing and physios are the best to tell you what you should or shouldn't do, but see a sports one, not some old hack with the NHS

A friend snapped his Achilles tendon playing competitive badminton. It was not a ping. Everybody heard it snap.

Barefoot is the worst for it. Try Birkenstock shoes. You want to stretch the Achilles so get a wooden slant if possible

I had an x-ray and he said my tendons and ligaments were fine. I asked him about the snapping and he said it was the facitis stretching (summat like that I was a bit knackered and spacey).

Fuck me - good old NHS! I was thinking about crowdfunding your appointment but you're good. I'm still not convinced by him saying 'people hear snapping tendons all the time'. I hope the wait wasn't too long alongside those malingering old people with dodgy hearts
