This is a game about space pirates. It takes place in the Karabyn Galaxy, a distant part of the universe. As the planets joined to form the United Systems Galactic Federation (USGF), they adopted a primary form of speaking, which is obviously what we call English, but they call the language Galaxian Prime. There are of course many secondary languages. The primary form of currency is Galaxian Credits, which are entirely electronic and thumbprints are used for everyday transactions to access online accounts. However, many pirates, smugglers, and criminals deal in supplies, jewels, and other treasures that can be sold later for Creds. If a pirate is wanted, using his thumbprint could instantly lead agents of justice to him. Luckily, criminal technology has advanced as well, and many pirates have deckers (a nickname for hackers who carry cyberdecks, which are like a mix between a cellphone and a laptop), and they can hack accounts to block transactions from being noticed by the authorities, change the name on the account, create fake identities, etc.
So, I'm thinking our crew of space pirates also act as mercenaries, and we can start the game with a few missions to develop our characters and the world. Then, whispers of war start to touch upon their ears. This eventually leads into a sort of space version of greek mythology. The Olympians are not gods, but they are very powerful. They used to be humans, but through generations of genetic manipulation, they have attainted a sort of higher being, all their traits supercharged. They are a great deal faster, stronger, and smarter than an average human, and their regenerative capabilities make them extremely hard to injure, let alone kill, and they do not begin to age past adulthood until their cells tire out, which can take many many years.
Years ago, Zues rose up and overthrew his corrupt father, Kronos. He then led his people to an age of peace that lasted many decades. Zues took many wives, but for some reason, he seemed unable to seed a child. Finally, when he was over a hundred and finally started to age, he somehow was able to impregnant his most recent wife, Hera. First born was Athena, then Ares, and then Artemis, Apollo, and Aphrodite. Along with them was Zues's brothers Poseidon and Hades, who commanded the Imperial Fleet and the prisonworld Darkenholme, respectively.
For many years, Ares has said they should conquer the rest of the galaxy since the other races are inferior in his eyes. Zues wanted to maintain the peace, but as our characters soon find out, Zues has mysteriously died and Ares has assumed command of the Olympian Empire. He openly delcares war on all of Karabyn.
Of the first worlds to fall is Norse, only a handful of people surviving. Of this small group, Lord Odin and his sons Thor and Loki lead them to safety on a distant planet they name Asgard. They build a city and name it Valhalla. This is where the rebellion begins. Their flagship is the Valkyrie, and they are hunting for Ragnarok, a legendary item of some sort that ancient Norse prophets foretold would play a major part in the final battle between good and evil.
So, I'm thinking our space pirate crew eventually joins Asgard after realizing that once the Olympians take over, all pirates will be slaughtered. Maybe our crew helps hunt for Ragnarok?
My characters are Captain Remus Kylar, his 19 year old son Gaaranus (Gaara for short), and their outdated service droid Jaxomitron Servodroid Mark II Model AXT-7422.3 (Jax for short). Remus is a hardass but loves his crew, Gaara is a gifted fighter who strives to impress his father, and Jax has a very blunt-yet-kind personality and is always studying human behavior to act more like them himself. He is the ship's main engineer/tech support/hacker. Their ship is called the Grandstrom.
So, anyone intersted in joining my crew?
