Anyone work out using the Pilates method? What about The Firm? I've done Tae Bo, which is a killer workout, but I can't get past that threshold of 'my god this shit really burns!', and then I give up.

"The first archaeological evidence of yoga's existence is found in stone seals excavated from the Indus valley. The stone seals depict figures performing yoga postures. These artifacts officially put yoga on the map circa 3000 B.C.E, and more importantly link it to the great Indus-Sarasvati Civilization. The Indus-Sarasvati was the largest civilization in the ancient world and exceptionally modern for its time. Named after the two rivers that flowed through India, the Indus-Sarasvati was a maritime society, exporting goods throughout the Middle East and Africa. They constructed multistory buildings, a sewage system, and laid out geometrical brick roads. The Indus-Sarasvati civilization also gave birth to the ancient texts known as the Vedas, the oldest scriptures in the world."

DCL' s right. Yoga has been around for 5000 years. I think it's made it past the "fad stage". My mother was teaching it when I was growing up. She's 84 now and still in great shape.

I've been doing Yoga for close to two years now and I've had great results. My muscles are firmer and I'm a lot more flexible than I was before. I don't do any other type of workout.

Ok, here is the deal...I eat in moderation, don't eat alot of junk food, probably one soda a day, if that, and am cursed by fluffy genes. I want to get in shape, look great, feel great, all that stuff...2 years of yoga and I think I will have to shoot myself if it takes that long to see results, so what is the next best thing?

I do pilates and love it. Keeps me flexible and balanced. I do that in addition to lots of cardio and weight lifting.

With Pilates, how soon did you see results?

It's hard to say, because I do the other exercise as well. Within about 2 weeks after starting pilates, I definitely felt my middle was stronger and firmer and my posture much better.

Walking is one of the best things you can do. Not strolling and not doing a John Cleese impersonation. Just moderatly paced walking for an hour a day can work wonders.

Great! I feel better with Tae Bo, almost immediately, but the pain creeps in and I stop...I know, work past it. I am tempted to try Pilates or The Firm...decisions!

You're right Alvin. I did alot of walking recently, and I felt awesome. I think the funk I'm in is keeping me from going out on my own and walking more, but I know I should.

Thanks!
