I have a stainless steel ring in my eyebrow...and my body seems to be rejecting it. I thought that it had all healed up and discovered tonight that there is a scar above the ring, and that the ring is no longer so deep as it used to be.

My question is this: has anyone ever had this happen? And if it did happen, how did you remove the ring?

Any and all input or help would be appreciated!!

I had mine infected a few times after 4 months of having it in when i went swimming(damn that lake erie) I would clean it with iodine and rotate it,once it cleared up i used bactine to keep it clean. you will have to get it removed before you get sick, my sister in law had hers removed by a doctor she didn't have the pliers and she need the antibotics. I hope things work out.

What are you doing to keep it clean and allow the puncture to heal around the ring? Probably soap & water is the best. ROTATE the ring wash and repeat a couple of times when you're taking a shower. That way there won't be a reserve of bacteria around one area of the ring all ready to pour back into your face as soon as you dry off. If it contimues to cause problems I'd seriously think about having it pulled out, cut off - whatever. Get it out of your face. On the other hand a massive infection in the area is going to do what?
There's only, like, your EYEBALL and your BRAIN near there. No worries.

I guess I should have clarified...it's all healed, no pus, no infection, just the ring moving further out. Now that I look at it, I can see just where it used to be. I've had it for almost eight months now.

Naughty Migrating Piercings!

I had the same thing happen with my nipple piercings, actually. The piercings actually moved out of their original holes (or migrated), and almost pierced through my entire nipple. Very painful indeed.

I would agree with the above poster. Call the piercer where you got it pierced and have them take a look at it. Sometimes piercings just migrate.

Well, I managed to find some information online (of course) and it seems that this is something that can happen. The piercing may not have been deep enough, the ring may have been too small of a gauge, or a combination of the two factors.

InnocentAngel, I did try contacting the guy who did the piercing, and he's out of town. Unfortunately, I'm in a very small town and he's the only guy. Now, I have to find a way to remove a captive-bead earring from my eyebrow :)

pliers

is there another piercing place around you? or maybe at the mall there is a store called hot topic, they have the piercing pliers you would need, i dont think you would want to use a wire cutter.

Piercings

I can say from personal exp. I have had the same problem, It is known as growing out. I had my navel done 3 times and it grew out twice. I also have a scar from the first 2 attempts. There is a great web site called Tribalectic.com all about pody piercings. Check it out and let me know what you think.

WHen i had my eyebrow pierced, it also migrated, got so bad that it stretched the skin out and just fell out one day.... so i have a cute scar (NOT REALLY) that is completely flesh colored and hardly noticable to anyone but me or anyone looking for it..but i regret not doing something sooner....

I'd call another piercer in the next town over, its worth the trip
