Back a couple of years, OK some 35 years ago, I made money by trapping small animals. We're talking things like Rabbits, Fox, Muskrats etc.
Well I spent a week up visiting my parents not too long ago. While I was up there my father dropped a mass of rusty metal in my lap. Yep it was a couple of my old Conibear traps which had been sitting in a box in the garage attic for oh so many years. I wasn't sure what to do with these so i just wrapped them in plastic and dropped them in my suitcase. (I'm sure they got a double take from the security scanners in the airport.)
After I got home I decided what the hell and started working them over with sandpaper. After a couple days of this I hit them with a clear laquer to keep them from rusting more. (I didn't want them to look brand new. I wanted them to look like what they are, a couple of well used traps.) (You have to remember these are items from my past as politicaly incorrect as they are.)
I think they turned out pretty good.
