Pictures and Gifs in stories?

I was wondering, is it possible to post small pics and gifs between some paragraphs in stories?

Side note - although illustrated stories usually go to the Illustrated Stories category, it does seem to be possible to post them in the "regular" categories too. It's uncommon but I've seen it done at least once, quite recently.
