First of all, be patient. 7 minutes isn't long enough to expect responses.

Secondly, go to http://www.irfanview.com and download this free program. Open your image, resize the dimensions if necessary, go to the File menu and click on Save As...

When the window with the saving options comes up, move the slider under Image Quality (or something like that) down until the image is small enough for Lit. Save the image and post it on Lit.

For more info, see Irfanview is the answer and the FAQs Before Posting sticky at the top of the main How To page.

[ ]Oh come on Erika. We all know you're running a help desk, sitting there waiting to pounce on whatever new problem arises. Seven minutes even! <gasp> He had to wait that long? And then another twenty!!! [/  ]

Thanks to all that should help me.

I just checked to see how youwere getting along, and noticed that the picures you have managed to post are in BMP or "Window Bit Map" format.

.BMP is an uncompressed format which makes getting under the file size limit of for attachments nearly impossible.

.GIF and .JPG are the best formats for attachments because both provide reasonable picure quality and sufficient compression so that the pixel limts are more likely to be aproblem than filesize limits.

JPG (or .JPeG) format is preferable for most pictures when filesize is a consideraion because the format definitions allow larger color palletes and variable compression levels -- (.GIF format definition limits them to 256 colors and a single compression algorithm.)

However, JPeG is a "Lossy" Format, which means that uncompressing the image for display does NOT always give you exactly the image you saved; the higher the compression (lower the "JPG quality") is set when you save the image, the more "halos" and "distortions" you'll see in the image when it's displayed or printed. Set the compresion/Quality for the best compromise beween image quality and filesize.

Always save modified images with the "Save As" function to preserve your original starting point; once you save an image, you can't restore the original image to start over.

Thank you Erika! For helping me solve a problem before it approaches! Only four more posts before I can have an AV! yay!
