This is mostly curiousity since we'd have to save up and then coordinate a weekend when one of us wasn't working, but...

Has anyone been to a sexual training retreat? My spouse and I are curious about attending a weekend retreat of some sort that focuses on enhancing our sexuality. We've done a little research and have visited some sites that talk about tantric training, but we're unsure. ( We admit we saw one of these on cable one night - it seemed interesting, but a little sleezy - at least the idea about being filmed for broadcast.)

If you have been, how did you choose? Did they meet your expectations? Was it worth it? How did you decide which kind of a retreat to go on?

Thanks for all your help.

Wow, I have never heard of anything like "sexual training classes." The closest is a workshop on better kissing technique.

I'll admit I'm intrigued. I'd love to hear about people's experiences also. For that matter, Millie, what websites did you consult?

Millie -- we keep seeing them on RealSex on HBO, but never can figure out where they are! Some I remember were in Europe. But if you watch for some of these repeats on HBO maybe there will be information in the credits.

I think it's a great idea. I think it depends, however, on what your aim is. I'm sure there are workshops and video's on techniques and then there are the workshops that concentrate more on the intimacy/connection and so on. I saw (and taped, but I have to watch it again if you really want to know which show that was and also the spa-like 'thing' the couples went to) an Oprah show once where the whole show was built around a sex survey that was done in the US. Besides the results (facts and figures :D ) of that survey they also had a few couples who told their stories on how they never 'did it anymore'. They were sent off to this spa-like environment where they had workshops etc to bring the intimacy and respect for each other back into their lives first, which ultimately also resulted in a better sex life. Part of the workshops/classes dealt with techniques too, but the emphasis was on the intimacy and respect and attention for each other. Looked good to me! Also the 'treatment' looked nothing like sleezy or anything but at the same time it did not shy away from dealing with the real sex issues. Like I said.... looked good to me. It's something I would attend. If you want to know what that was exactly and also which Oprah show (because I think you can request tapes of shows at Oprah.com) I would have to pop that video in again. ;)
