No not that kind of toy.

I picked up, on sale, a 7 1/4 inch power Miter Saw with a laser guide. (Hey it was $59.99) Yes it is a Craftsman.

This will make so many of my home rebuild jobs easier, not to mention other wood working projects.

I'm thinking I'm going to like this toy.

Miter saws are very nice. I have been told not to count on the laser guide too much though. I guess they don't always hold true.

Dammit Cat, this was just a ploy to get me to read the thread...wasn't it? :p

You have to keep the lasers calibrated. It's a bit of work at times but well worth the effort.

I've been using my father Miter for the past week and love it even though I had to recalibrate it. (His is a larger version of mine.)

LOLOL

When I was looking at the saw the salesman was trying to sell me a larger and more expensive version. (I hate dealing with people who work on commision in cases like this.)

He started by telling em the saw wasn't large enough for what I wanted to do. (As though he knew what I needed the saw for.)

What was funny was when he thought he was being slick by telling me a saw was like a dick. A small saw was useless in most cases. I grabbed the saw and told him that a small saw was like a small dick, you could get it into places and do jobs a larger one just wouldn't fit. He didn't know how to answer that one.

Great answer!

man I could so use a chop saw right this minute, it wouldn't even have to be perfectly calibrated. I have a lathe, table saw, bandsaw, shaper table- all the fancy shit. Why don't I have a chop saw????

Damned if I know. Why don't I have a Bandsaw? Oh wait a minute. I don't have a workshop yet, (That comes this summer. I'm going to remove the small shed out back and replace it with one of my own makeing. It will have enough room for the washer and dryer as well as all of my toys.)

My future Father in Law has a workshop at the bottom of his garden. he and the Fiance built it together. I not entirely certain what he's got in it, but it's...engineering related...tooling or something... not woodwork. Each of the machines weighs a coupla tonnes. It's crazy. Perhaps I'll understand more when he actually makes something I can understand the need for.
i have no idea why I am contributing to a tools thread. I am so clueless here...
I enjoyed woodwork at school, I just don't have much experience...
ok. I'm going before i MAKE MYSELF LOOK ANY MORE GIRLIE AND BLONDE.
Damn Caps Lock.

Trust me Cat, I never for a second thought you meant THAT kind of toy. :D I don't do power saws. I like my fingers far too much. There are some jobs that are worth paying for someone else to do.
