I'm looking for some good beers out there... Help me with a tasting list?

Right now I've got some Poet Oatmeal Stout in the fridge.

What's your favorite brew?

my liver hates me; stupid liver

When I used to drink beer more regularly, I was always a big fan of a black and tan : guiness and newcastle ale.

I live in PA, and you generally have to buy beer by the case, so it is more difficult to sample different beers. I sometimes get a case of Anchor Steam when I feel like splurging, otherwise is it a sam adams variety pack or newcastle for me.

I'm a bit picky about my beer, to be honest. Depends on what kind of beer you like, but I personally like hefeweizens. Not sure what's available in your area, but Paulaner and Erdinger are pretty common. Between the two, the Paulaner is the better, in my opinion. Flying Dog In-Heat Wheat is another good, pretty common choice. I actually prefer it to the Erdinger. There are some pretty good local brews available in my area, but I don't know if they're also where you're at. *shrug*

There are definitely others that I like, but like I said, hefeweizens are my favorites. :) Hope you find one that you like!

Great idea for a thread!

Goodness, where to start.... I could always go for the local brownie points and say Shiner or Lone Star (although it IS a great CHEAP beer!)

I am more of a domestic guy, myself. Oregon beers are usually awesome. they don't call it Beer-vana for nothing! So, I like Rogue beers a lot. Their Shakespeare Stout is delicious. Luckily with the craft beer uprising, it is possible to get some really good beers from all over if you have a good beer store!

Currently in the fridge, I have some Ode To Mercy from Wild Heaven brewery. It's an imperial brown ale and it is awesome!

All time fav is Sam Smith's scotch ale. But it is a bit on the strong side. Pilsner Urquel is always a good bet or for something exotic try a xingu- has hints of chocolate. Hit up the local brewpub and get a sampler. Then if anything strikes your fancy take a growler home.

Okay here's my offering.

Redhook ESB (Bitter)
Leavenworth Biers Whistling Pig (Hefeweizen)
Pyramid Breweries Curve Ball (blond ale)
Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout (Uh, its an oatmeal stout)

Its always good fun when you travel to hit up the local brewpub and sample their wares. I live in the Northwest and there are almost as many local breweries as there are latte shops. Its grueling. No, really... :)

One that I have been drinking lately is Raging Bitch, from Flying Dog. It is stout, but very tasty.

Those all sound amazing!!!! I love the darker beers and have a hard time finding a lot of places where I can taste multiple kinds, mostly lights and ales as drafts. I'll have to hit a Flying Saucer and try those!

I'm good with Strong. Definately going to have to try your Xingu... beer and chocolate!

Thanks Everyone for your delicious selections. Keep them coming! I usually stick with the stouts myself and love anything from the Kona Brewing company... coffee and chocolate and beer. Fantastic!

English ale is the best in the world by a country mile. Now quite what is available in the US is another matter.

Perhaps you can find Pedigree, Newcastle Brown Ale, Timothy Taylors or Greene King IPA?

I drink Murphy's whenever possible - dark and sweet, yummy.

Other than that, I usually just drink beers from the small brewery I grew up next to. Not the best in the world, but it taste like home ;)

Thread Killer?

Wow... I thought that my picture of the taps would inspire some discussion, not kill the thread. Or are you all just drooling at the sight of so many beer choices?
