Because we are all over the world I thought it might be nice to see some photos of where we actually live near... for example most live in the USA, but all places there are different... so how about some photos of your close by neigbourhood?

This first photo is of where I used to hang as a teenager in the summer, guys with their fast cars and bikes and swimming all day long......

This part of Texas looks just like that in the summer, it's just brown and has less water.

:D

West coast beach where I go surfcast fishing and the surfing dudes hang out.

Some of the Xena TV programme was filmed here.

hey t.h. when i get home i'll post a couple of pics of the texas hill country for you...

I don't have any pictures of where I live now, really, because there's nothing worth taking pictures of. This is a park I used to hike in when I still lived in New York, though...

And here's another... different part of the same park...

TH, those are *gorgeous* pictures... especially that second one, of the beach... wow. That's all I can say. Thanks for posting them!

The beach in the pic is black sand so it gets bloody hot on the feet. The tide is quite dangerous with rips etc. But great surf for fishing from and surfing....

P.S. Thanks for posting your pics everyone :D

Here ya' go TH.

A barrier island across Charlotte Harbor named Cayo Costa.
Charlotte Harbor is about 120 miles south of Tampa.

great :D What are the dead trees in the background and why are they all dead and not everything else?????

Thanks TH. This is a really nice thread. Travelling now, but when I get back in a few days I hope to dig something up and post it. The Cayo Costa pic above is some of my old stomping ground so great to see that here.

RR, was this shot from Johnson Shoals outside the pass? We used to moor a boat and camp on the shoals? I had heard they were washed away in one of the big blows, so I was curious if this meant they were still around. Thanks for putting this one up; brings back a lot of fond memories. One that comes to mind is moored at the shoals and seeing a large spotted ray jump completely out of the water and do a flip. Makes me wonder if that legendary hammerhead (what's his name?) was after the ray. Never saw anything like that before or since.

here's a picture of Fort McHenry - birthplace of the "Star Spangled Banner" taken from a cruise boat on the inner harbor of baltimore

SW Florida.

"great What are the dead trees in the background and why are they all dead and not everything else?????"

I would guess that the barrier islands come and go over hundreds of years. The tall dead trees were probably cyprus growing well in a swamp, but when the island shrunk in a storm they were inundated with salt water and died.

Here is our house, a little different, but anyone living near the coast where hurricanes are possible understands!

Not much as cool as you are used to, here.

Well, lets see. Here is a list of things I need not submit photos for.... :D

Corn, soy and wheat fields. (can be amazingly beautiful during the right times of the year and day)

'Monopoly house' style neighborhoods. :(

Lot's of roadway.

Barns.

Big oaks.

Ditches. (houses for all sorts of flora and fauna)

Misplaced architecture.

Powerlines.

Okay, to the 'good' stuff,

The Maumee river...

There used to be a giant old growth swamp here until the late 1800's. Now it is all gone. Even the forests around the river, once part of the swamp, has been replaced because of the use of the lumber in development of the cities.

Still the river is a source of great beauty and inspiration.

The river is known nationally for it's Walleye fishing.

We have 9 Major Metro Parks... I just don't have any photos as of right now. I will have to keep this thread in mind through spring and summer.

A lot of beauty to be found here... and even some very unique ecosytems, you just have to look through the muck.

Great pics everyone, keep posting them. I love having somewhere to imagine people sitting and thinking through their days :)

Starfish my Father Inlaw would have a fit if he had to share a river fishing with that many others, lol

RR13 I love the house. I've always like wide varandas with the latics work framing them :)

Hey....wait a minute here TH

If you're down in Kiwi Ville.....wouldn't your picture look like this!!

How about a photo of my house.....I'll have to get out there with the camera and take some photo's of my neighbourhood for you all too.

I live in a building in this picture, probably best not to say exactly which one.

Love the coast and love your house, and growing up in the Palmetto State I understand the trees and huricanes.

Then I'll have to leave a trail of Reese's Pieces for you to follow;)

I'm stealing Bindii's idea and posting my house... unless y'all really want to see pics of soon to be tobacco fields that right now are muddy barren plots of land. Any takers? I thought not.

I'll post pics of the 'neighborhood' when it's pretty and green instead of muddy and congested with combines.
