Photography thread...

Some real talent on this thread, ShyGuy your bridge shots are postcard worthy, Cat I'm with Miss Minx in regards to the Sea & Rocks, love it. Nax you've definitely also some real hidden talent , my favorite of several, is the street scape with the steam and the yellow cab, very evocative. ( ohh and the squirrel, cute )

Thanks for sharing :rose:

I'm in total awe of the talent round here. Cat, may I ask what software you use to insert your subtle copyright info? Because I can't make it look so good on mine.

I use ACDSee on Text function and just alter the opacity to fit suit the pic....I also use the 'overlay' setting when doing it for the across the pic copyright.

Thank you. I've been using the software that came with my Canon digital a bajillion years ago, but I do have photoshop pro which will let me use overlays. I think I'll try that.

Definately do as the Canon stuff is not much more than a prop until you get a good programme.

Isn't it weird how your brain doesn't always connec the dots? Since Photoshop came with my Manga Studio EX package (or my wacom package) and I only use for drawing, it didn't connect.

Or maybe it's just me today.

Catalina,
I just have to tell you how incredible your photography is. I have spent over an hour going back through the threads. Oddly enough, your lovely daughter looks how I pictured you. I enjoy your images as much as your words you have shared.

Thanks...my daughter hates it when people say she looks like me or vv...so much she dyed her hair years ago and still it didn't change what people say. I think she is gorgeous though, so don't think she has to worry too much.:D

LOL, I do that often...is is sad when it happens, but I just tell myself there was a good reason the universe tricked me so nastily.:D

I can agree with you there :p

Miss Rebecca.. Thank you for the lovely compliments.... I thought the squirrel was cute too, and the steam one is probably my fave.. in a way it sums up the city.. Cant say why though.

I love photography, have a nice digital camera, no focuses control or that fancy stuff but it has a few options and is compact. I also have some photo editing software and am ok with it. All in all its a good foundation to build on.

I don't know much about the whole art process though, its frustrating because I can't get the results I want. I have been snapping away, but later when I check the photos none work for me anymore.

How can you make a scenario work for you? In what terms do you need to think? I know its a weird question, but any thoughts at all would be nice.

Depends on your equipment and what results you want to get. I tend to just photograph based on instinct in terms of composition etc., though being on Flickr has also helped me stretch myself a lot more than I was doing before. What exactly is it you feel you are not happy with? Composition, effects you get through photo editing? Which camera are you using?

Catalina:catroar:

Thank you kindly Miss Rebecca :rose: Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky and get some great evening shots in Sydney as well.

Not sure you'll need any thing but appropriate weather, Sydney Harbour is disgustingly difficult to get a bad image. Including the foreshore areas, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I'll do my best! I actually chatted a bit to a lady from Australia on one of my guided walks in London. It was cool to hear the Aussie accent, and it made me think about you while I talked to you :)

Have to second what rebecca said about Sydney Harbour...it is one of the most incredible populated places I have seen in my life, day or night.

The problem is when I look at the pictures I snapped, none of them have that “hmm, interesting” factor.
I have thought that it may be due to the fact that I have run the photo idea through my head already, so that effect is gone, but then when I look at art, it never loses that effect.

I suppose the problem is that my pictures lack that charisma, that certain something that draws attention and makes you feel and think.

I got me one of these

Yep, I'm in the same boat, YC. Drives me up a wall. I can see, on occassion, something that looks like it would be a wonderful shot, and it never turns out right.

Maybe you are like a lot of us and keep striving for better which is not a bad thing. Feel free to post your pics here.:rose: I also would suggest getting involved on a site like Flickr as it really does extend you a lot if you get involved in it. There are lots of snapshot photographers there and lots of excellent enthusiasts and professionals also. Most are more than willing to share tips and new techniques with others, and just entering in some of the daily competitions helps also to improve. Besides that it is a fun way to spend many hours a day...and they have some really top fetish and kink photographers with beautiful work.
