Photography thread...

In the Spring, there is going to be a "student art show" and I thought about entering a picture or two. Any suggestions on which ones or should I just keep my work at home? LOL.

I put my vote for House and Bridge. From a technical standpoint, they both are representative of Ansel Adam's Zone System. Excellent images. The house images definitely made me ache for some architecture variation. I detest the cookie cutter houses in this area.

Catalina,
I just have to tell you how incredible your photography is. I have spent over an hour going back through the threads. Oddly enough, your lovely daughter looks how I pictured you. I enjoy your images as much as your words you have shared.

These are not of the calibre of other contributions to this thread, nor do they purport to be. They were however, taken mins ago, on a camera I have never used before. New Year's Eve here in Sydney ....... ( Cat forgive me puhlease, I can always remove them tomorrow ).

Fireworks a little later

I love photography, have a nice digital camera, no focuses control or that fancy stuff but it has a few options and is compact. I also have some photo editing software and am ok with it. All in all its a good foundation to build on.

I don't know much about the whole art process though, its frustrating because I can't get the results I want. I have been snapping away, but later when I check the photos none work for me anymore.

How can you make a scenario work for you? In what terms do you need to think? I know its a weird question, but any thoughts at all would be nice.

i like this thread. :) here are some from my first trip to europe this summer.....well the cake on is from america. :p

Here are a couple of pics that I took of London Bridge in the evening. The first was taking while it was raining, and the second after it had stopped raining.

If you want to see the full size picture, simply click on any of the two pics above (FYI. they are about 3 MB each)

Gorgeous shots!! Any more? Love the different effect between the rain one and the later one. I can't wait to go there and take millions of photos though to do that would mean F couldn't be with me. He has absolutely no patience with photography, but loves the results I get...just as long as he isn't along while I am taking them. LOL, I have told him everytime I go out around here I am nearly always approached by male shutter bugs wanting to talk and compare notes, but damn, he trusts me so much it doesn't begin to get him jealous or of a mind to keep me company.:(

Thank you very much for the praise, coming from you it means a lot :) I however have to admit that the my camera did most of the work, I picked the night setting, and then I pointed and zoomed myself, and cropped it some today.

I have loads more, I came home thinking that I hadn't taking that many pictures, but when I pulled them off the camera I found out there were a bit more than 100 pics! But I've sorted quite a few away, and now I'll have to some more sorting and decide what to keep.

Now don't sell yourself short...your composition is great, and believe me, a lot of people don't have that talent. I was disappointed I was too ill to take as many pics as I had planned while in Oz, but I am trying to focus on the ones I did take which I am happy with. Unlike my usual way, I am still going through them cropping etc. Usually I get that done within a day or so of getting home. Hope you post some more here.

Thanks :) I do try to think a bit about the composition, I think it just comes to me naturally often as well though.

I'll go through the pics again, and see if there's anything else that I would like to share

Oh lovely pics shyguy. You just made me miss home

Ohh sorry about that Minx *hugs* But I'm pleased you liked them anyway. And it's a good thing you'll be back home again next month right? :)

Yes temporarily lol. Whilst I arrange my visa, have my belongings shipped back out to Oz and catch up with my mum and the rest of my family.

But they were lovely to see. Thankyou :)
