does anyone else think that sadly there are alot of phony profiles on here...maybe i am a little jaded but when i first joined there seemed to be alot less phony profiles

There seems to be a new thread every day from a 19 year-old F college student who LOVES guys over 50, and wants to be "taken". The profiles usually have 1-3 posts, and gullible guys type three pages of responses, never realizing that the OP has vanished.

It is more prevalent now than in the past. Maybe that just means that the site has continued to grow in popularity.

I am a honey mustard fan. I do however live within an hours drive of the French Quarter in New Orleans and can attest that it is the place to be on most weekends.

I did comment about this in my thread, are all men on lit 6'1" ? I'm not upset though. I take it with a grain of salt that some will misrepresent themselves for one reason or another. I even flamed one in another thread; it was actually pretty funny.

I am 18 & like older guys, is this why im getting so many pm asking if my profile is rlly me?? I didnt know. But 1 thing to think about is I cant speak for others but I dont have as many posts as I wld have expected bcuz justfrom every 1 post i do I get like at least 5 pm & im trying to read them & reply before I go post again & get more.

Also while most ppl have been nice I also got a cpl that were kinda rude so I didnt reply then I think they just think im fake & thats why I dont write back but rlly its that I dont like what they said or I dont have time bcuz I do have school & a job & try to hang out w/ my friends in person so it cld be hard to catch up. A cpl rude ones said something about my spelling so I added to my profile I have dyslexia I didnt want to have to put it there when I 1st made my profile bcuz its embarassing but I dont want ppl thinking im stupid when its not my thinking thats bad but just my typing. I also had guys think im lying about my age bcuz my birthday was recent to when I joined but ive been wanting to sign up awhile so of course once I was finally old enough I wld do it right away like how long do they think im suposed to wait?

But I do like most of my pm tho & I try to answer back soon as I get a chance to & not get my inbox to full.

You just need to keep posting, one of the easy things to spot in phony profiles in the post number. If they've broken say 50 or so posts then they mean to stay around here, and once people recognize you they are more inclined to believe you are who you say you are.

As for you dyslexia, it's nothing to be embarrassed about. It's not something you can control, so just try and ignore the rude people that can't look past some typos.

Thanks about ignoring rude ppl & the thing about posts. I didnt think about how it looks to not have as many & I was busy catching up/w pm but Ill get more involded w/ posts. I do like to read all the other opinions I think it will help open my mind.

The 6ft1 is the rounding off syndrome, which I must admit I have conformed to as well. I kept claiming I was 28 even before my 28th birthday, said I was 6ft when I'm closer to 5ft 11.5inches, said I was 7 inches when I might have been 6.5 and such. I feel guilty now, but when blood supply is directed towards other parts of one's body, how much does one focus on the minutiae?

Deep thoughts:

People pretending to be someone they are not is very common online. It used to be that way in newspaper dating ads. "6'1" athletic guy seeks young fit attractive woman..." and get's an answer "5'2" woman, athletic, model quality beauty" etc. When they meet,, they are like "hey, you lied" as both are overweight, she's not a model, and he's fat and balding.

This may not be the point of the OP, as I think he was talking about prankster fakes more particularly, but the subject has made me wonder from time to time. And here are my thoughts.

Do you know what really get's me about people seeking "approval" or "love" or "attention" or whatnot by pretending to be something they are not? Why do they do it? I mean obviously they have some kind of low self esteem to think so little of themselves that they pretend to be someone else, but here's the real thing. If someone likes you, for who you are pretending to be, rather than for who you really are, then well, isn't that even worse for your self esteem? And, how can one possibly feel good about the fact that someone likes them for who they pretend to be? "Yay, this hot chick likes me because of who I said I am, but I lied so bad that we can never meet in person. yay!" WTF?
