Philosophy 101

Okay, here's one....

Monday is considered the beginning of the work week, and friday is the end of the work week. Wednesday is Lit's favorite day Hump Day. What does that make Thursday?

I'm only asking because I'm bored, it's Thursday, and I can't wait for lunch.

Around here Thursday is pay day. :D

Hump Day works well because "hump" has only one syllable and together the two words sound like other days of the week, it suggests getting over the hump of a journey, and of course, there's the delicious sexy pun.

So, with Hump Day working on three levels, how can someone come up with a correspondingly good nickname for Thursday? Most of the days of the week have only two syllables (Saturday being the only exception), so using a one-syllable word seems to make sense but isn't a requirement.

We want a word that suggests the beginning of the downward trend to the end of the work week, perhaps something that hearkens back to the effort of getting over the hump.

And, we want a word that somehow plays off the sexual innuendo of Hump Day. So.....

My nominee is Afterglowday. Or maybe Glow Day for short.

What do you think?

Does this give anyone any ideas for additional suggestions?

I think Thursday should be eliminated. It would make the work week only four days which is what we deserve for working so hard, plus we'd have more weekends to party :D

Yes, but then your assuming that Hump Day was a good day, what if you struck out.....

Now, I'm starting to like this one, has a lot of merit.....though I just thought of a hitch......if we eliminate Thursday, then we have one less day to play on Lit.....

Then Wednesday couldn't have been Humpday, in which case Thursday would just be plain ol' Thursday (sorry, Thor). Since the meaning of Afterglowday depends entirely on the meaning of Humpday, Afterglowday can't exist without Humpday.

That being the case, why is there air?

Very good point......so that means that Wednesday is just Wednesday.....but what about Tuesday?

As for air....I think it's highly overrated.....ask any fish!

Better idea....make Thursday the end of the work week....and Friday the start of the weekend........this way we only work four days....have three days off.....and lose no time on Lit...

I think Tuesday is for twosomes...of course this leaves me with the dilemma of having Tuesday cease to exist for me if I don't get lucky with the missus on a Tuesday...hmm, maybe that explains why I got so little done the other day...and why so many of my emails that I thought I responded to seemed to be unanswered yesterday...

Yes, air is highly overrated...ask your pet rock!

if you ask me....Tuesday's should be eliminated......for some reason they always schedule meetings on Tuesdays......get's in the way of Lit, don't you think

Okay Friday is here.....time for our next step in deductive reasoning...

Everyone's favorite part of Friday, besides it being the end of most work weeks, is Happy Hour. What's the story with Happy Hour. Someplaces have several hours of partying.....so shouldn't it be called Happy Hours. And what if you don't go out, then your not allowed to have a Happy Hour. Hell, in some states, you can't have Happy Hour. And why should Happy Hour only benefit those drinking. I mean in my younger day I partied with the best, but I don't ever remember starting that early. Oh wait, yes I do, I was in college and anytime of day was an excuse for a party. But I digress. I mean limiting Happy Hour to just drinking kind of makes it a bit discriminating. I mean, I like to think if I make love that should constitute a Happy Hour or Hours if I'm lucky. And what about getting a raise at work (and I'm not talking about a sexual raise here). Hell, I'm happy just talking to my friends on Lit. And why is it and Hour. Can't it be a minute or a day, or a week, or dear I say, a Month.

Well, looking at the clock I just killed 15 minutes of work time.....which I have just designated my Happy 15 minutes....:D
