Of second degree murder:
LOS ANGELES – Rock music producer Phil Spector was convicted Monday of second-degree murder in the shooting death of a film actress at his mansion six years ago. A Superior Court jury returned the verdict after an estimated 29 to 30 hours of deliberations. The jury had the option of choosing involuntary manslaughter, but did not do so.

Spector exhibited no reaction to the verdict. His attorney argued that he should remain free on bail pending the May 29 sentencing, but Judge Larry Paul Fidler remanded him to jail immediately. Second-degree murder carries a penalty of 15 years to life in prison.

Spector's young wife, Rachelle, sobbed as the decision was announced. The 40-year-old Lana Clarkson, star of the 1985 cult film "Barbarian Queen," died of a gunshot fired in her mouth as she sat in the foyer of Spector's mansion in 2003. She met Spector only hours earlier at her job as a nightclub hostess. Prosecutors argued Spector had a history of threatening women with guns when they tried to leave his presence. The defense claimed she killed herself.

It was Spector's second trial. His first jury deadlocked 10-2, favoring conviction in 2007.

Justice is served.
Took it six years! But yeah, I think it was finally served in this case. A man who routinely threatened women with guns and clearly got off on that sort of power play? With alcohol involved?

And the defense says: "It's very difficult to put a gun in someone's mouth..." Really? Not that I've first hand knowledge, but I suspect it's not so hard when you're drunk and threatening someone's life with that gun.

Justice is served.

Only, it should have been first degree. The man is a sick fuck. He shot the poor woman in the head.

Sometimes I wish, especially with crimes like these that they give the relatives an option.

"We can have him spend the rest of his miserable life in prison or we can turn him over to you and you can do whatever you deem fit."

Yeah, an eye for an eye in a case like this would better serve justice.

Lana

Lana can never be brought back due to her murder by Spector. I hope her family files a civil suit and reecives damages.

The "wall of sound" he created will be replaced by the "cell walls."

Justice is served . . . finally!

Yeah, a 'wrongful death' action to completely clean out his holdings would be perfectly appropriate.

Finally, Justice is served....

It took long enough and it should have been in the first degree. Hopefully her family will get some closure from this action.

For first degree they'd have had to prove it was premeditated. I'm sure Phil there though it was just fun and games as usual...until the gun went off.

I've been shooting since I was . . . 12, I think. Guns are not toys!

My dad told me when I was twelve that having a dick was much like having a gun (I've had a gun since I was six years old - a dick since birth); If you don't take precautions, there can be terrible consequences if it goes off.......
