My day begins
As you run your hands
Along the soft, black outer layer
Of my jacket, Tug the strap and
Hoist me to your car.
You bring me in from the cold
Lovingly, so my body does not crack;
You defend me fiercely if someone
Knocks me over, or if they
Have the audacity to address me as a guitar-
A label far below my status.
Playtime begins as you
Unzip my jacket and
Free me from the darkened confines;
With the gentlest of touch
You release my endpin and
Lean me up against your bosom.
You grasp me between your knees
And I sing beautifully for you
As your snow-white fingers dance
Along my steel-gut strings;
I feel your strong, but gentle force
As you move the horsehair bow
Across me, filling the
Void with my contra tenor voice.
I sense your every move as
I continue to sing the sweet, sweet
Sounds of Vivaldi’s fifth Sonata in e-minor;
We share the same ecstasy as I
Proclaim the last largo
Bringing tears to the eyes of watchers.
Our seemingly sensual rapture
Is apparent to all who view
As your body pulses with the
Subdivided tempo of our solo.
Our daily love-play is complete now,
You coax me into my padded jacket
And slowly run the zipper down to close;
Back to your car, and back to our home
We travel slowly while your new energy
Causes you to tremble.
