I am curious how other writers feel about this type of request. I write for a greater audience and get 'paid' in feedback, kudos, and naughty messages. That is my basic expectation when submitting a story to Lit.

I've only done one 'personalized' story and the recipient didn't like it, the topic was so specific to that person that I'd have to really rework it to make it appeal to a broader audience and I was left feeling very empty.

Admittedly that is a risk in writing but when writing for an audience of one, it is a greater risk. I'm selfishly, in a Harlon Ellison sort of way, saying "What does the writer get out of this?"

I don't mean to sound like a dick; I may be the exception and other people love to write personalized stories for no compensation (financial or otherwise).

It is like realizing that this is a service and compensation of some sort is normal for this service but some schmuck will do it for free.

I didn't mean to offend anyone. I just wanted a personalized story for free, and i figured instead of paying a website to do it, i would have an expert who writes stories do it for free. Once again, i'm sorry, i didn't mean to offend. If noone wants to do it, that's fine. I'm sorry for seeming like a dick. I wouldn't send naughty messages, but i would have definitely thanked you verbally more than once. I was specific enough that i doubt anyone could make a bad story. why dont you give it a shot, and maybe some of us can help you out? You already figured quite a few things out. Just write out your fantasy, then flesh it out into a story. Try and bring both your personalities into the characters.
