Ah, Minx, never fear. The threat is in not knowing who we are, for without self-knowledge, we have no authority over ourselves. Knowing who we are (even the little bit from this funny little profile) gives us the ability to choose.

For example: You and I may repeatedly get certain reactions from others because people sometimes feel we are trying to manipulate them. They become resentful, negative, even hostile, and we're bewildered.

When we understand that Joe Blow is feeling manipulated by our efforts to get things done, then we have choices: we can continue on as before or we can learn other ways to communicate our ideas.

It's important to accept our behaviorial tendencies just like we accept our eye color, but although we can't really change eye color, we can learn more about ourselves so that we don't have to be manipulative in order to accomplish our goals. Self-knowledge is the greatest gift I can give myself, and it's the gift that keeps on giving, to me as well as others. Don't be afraid--it's the greatest adventure of all!

I appreciate what you were trying to say, but I think you might have misunderstood. I was frightened at how closely this did resemble my personality. I am very comfortable in my own skin, and have learned to ignore the resentful, negative, and hostile reactions. I would be interested in finding out what type of lecturing you do, if you don't mind my asking?
