Personal Perceptions vs. Reality

I am not the wearing of the any kind of the mask. I am the me that I am the always being!

Okay. I had to think about this for awhile before actually answering... but this is how I see myself.

I can be kind, and caring and loving, but cross me or piss me off and I can be crueler that you'd ever imagined someone could be.

Hurt me in any way and I move beyond cruel and into downright evil. I believe in payback tenfold.

I'm intelligent, street smart and book smart and yet I've done some very stupid things with my life in the past which pisses me off and so I am stupid for the things I've done.

I've brought myself out of the lifestyle and economic situation my mother raised me in and so I am proud of that, and I have been through hell and back and have become stronger because of it.

As for how others view me, I have no idea. It usually seems to be one extreme or another, they love me or they love to hate me. *shrug*

I see myself as someone who is strong, mostly because I have to be. I am much harder on myself than I am on others. I expect a lot of myself & others. I am a lot more introspective than I used to be & not nearly as trusting as I once was. I tend to put up walls around myself at times to keep the world out, one of the reasons I like my job so much, I work more behind the scenes. Most of the time I am a very nice person & it takes a lot to get me angry, but when I do, watch out. Like Angel, I am smart, but I have some things in my past that would make people think I am a major imbecile. I don't have a lot, but what I have, I have worked very hard for & I am proud of myself for surviving. This last 2 years have been the worst ever, but I think I have helped a few people & that gives me some comfort.

I have been told that most people think of me as strong, probably because that is the side that I show the world. People that have known me for a long time tell me that I have changed a lot & that I am not as outgoing as I used to be. It is taking time, but they are finally realizing that this is how I will always be, I miss the way I used to be, but that woman is gone forever. I have lots of aquaintenances, but my close circle of friends is rather small. At times, I feel more comfortable "talking" to people here than in RL.

Someone close to me said that I come across as childlike and innocent. I found that surprising. I doubt that anyone here perceives me that way. I like to think I'm strong, and not vulnerable.

I think people consider me a friendly non-essential.

Huh. Whatever.

I think you're just not around enough anymore. :p

Folks, I’d like to sing a song about the American Dream
About me, about you
About the way our American hearts beat way down in the bottom of our chests
About that special feeling we get in the cockles of our hearts
Maybe below the cockles,
Maybe in the sub cockle area,
Maybe in the liver, maybe in the kidneys,
Maybe even in the colon, we don’t know

I’m just a regular Joe, with a regular job
I’m your average white, suburbanite slop
I like football and porno and books about war
I got an average house, with a nice hardwood floor
My wife and my job, my kids and my car
My feet on my table, and a Cuban cigar

But sometimes that just ain’t enough to keep a man like me interested
(oh no, no way, uh uh)
No I gotta go out and have fun at someone else’s expense
(woah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah)
I drive really slow in the ultra fast lane
While people behind me are going insane

I’m an asshole (he’s an asshole)
I’m an asshole (he’s an asshole, such an asshole)

I use public toilets and I piss on the seat
I walk around in the summer time saying “how about this heat?”

I’m an asshole (he’s an asshole)
I’m an asshole (he’s the world’s biggest asshole)

Sometimes I park in the handicap spaces
While handicapped people make handicap faces

I’m an asshole (he’s an asshole)
I’m an asshole (he’s a real fucking asshole)

Maybe I shouldn’t be singing this song
Ranting and raving and carrying on
Maybe they’re right when they tell me I’m wrong
Nah

I’m an asshole (he’s an asshole)
I’m an asshole (he’s the world’s biggest asshole)

You know what I’m gonna do
I’m gonna get myself a 1967 Cadillac Eldora do convertible
Hot pink, with whale skin hubcaps
And all leather cow interior
And make brown baby seal lions for head lights (yeah)
And I’m gonna drive in that baby at 115 miles per hour
Gettin' 1 mile per gallon,
Sucking down Quarter Pounder cheeseburgers from McDonald’s
In the old fashioned non-biodegradable styrofoam containers
And when I’m done sucking down those greaseball burgers
I’m gonna wipe my mouth with the American flag
And then I’m gonna toss the styrofoam containers right out the side
And there ain’t a goddamn thing anybody can do about it
You know why, because we’ve got the bombs, that’s why
2 words, nuclear fuckin’ weapons, OK?
Russia, Germany, Romania, they can have all the democracy they want
They can have a big democracy cakewalk
Right through the middle of Tinian Square and it won’t make a lick of difference
Because we’ve got the bombs, OK?
John Wayne’s not dead, he’s frozen, and as soon as we find a cure for cancer
We’re gonna thaw out the duke and he’s gonna be pretty pissed off
You know why,
Have you ever taken a cold shower, well multiply that by 50 million times
That’s how pissed off the duke’s gonna be

I’m an asshole (he’s an asshole)
I’m an asshole (he’s the world’s biggest asshole)

A-S-S-H-O-L-E
Everybody
A-S-S-H-O-L-E

I’m an asshole and I’m proud of it

PC

My Father thinks that is the greatest song ever written.

PC, you can be the asshole. I'm the asshole with a gun. See the av? Killer, huh?

My personal perception of myself? Perfection personafied. Even when I fuck up, I'm perfect. Why? Cause I'm the perfectest Muffin that I can be. Why? Cause no one does being Muffin anywhere with the personal panache, lack of grace, and superb aim that I do. I can also make cheesecake.

I have guns too.

You can be the asshole that screams at wallyhell customers when they disregard the 10 items or less sign.

I'll be the asshole that throws dirt clods at Welsh Corgis that crap on my front lawn.

how about this...

I see myself as someone who is too laid back and sometimes I let things go before I take care of a problem. Deep down inside I sometimes lack confidence that I am doing a good job. I am very hard on myself. I pay strick attention to details and feel like a lot of times I could have done something better.

The people I work with see me as highly competant and someone who gets a job done and done well. I get great reviews and my projects are used as examples in my company.

So can you imagine the shock to my soul when someone reached through the "public" perception of me to my personal perception. It has changed my every thought and move.

Has anyone else ever had this happen to him/her in a negative way?
