In checking out the new Personals Forum I found one legit ad, one psychotic ad, 30 or so mocking posts, and Laurel's request that we don't heckle. Many people responded to her saying that they wouldn't do it any more. But I'm thinking that maybe the (funny!) posts are frightening the more serious posters away.

In the interest of fairness, and in giving Laurel's new board a chance, would you all give her permission to delete those threads that aren't serious? I think if Laurel's taken the time to set this up for people who've requested it it might be nice if we back off for a while. And it might be nice to give it a fair start without the other posts getting in the way.

Oh, I know it's hard. BELIEVE me. You don't know how much I want to respond to that efe idiot. I got jokes leaking out of my ears. But we all know that relationships on line do happen, and if people are asking for this Forum let's give it to them.

Maybe some of the posts could be moved to the general board? That way noone loses their posts and the Forum could stay ridicule free...?

The classified forum would probably be best if you could only reply through email, eliminating 95% hecklers right off the bat.

ok ok i agree on the auction thing.. maybe it wasn't the right place to begin.. but i think the others were necessary to 'break the ice' I know if I was seriously lQQking for someone I wouldn't wanna be the first and only post there

I really do agree that we all should refrain from responding to what are serious posts with making fun and teasing responses - or even worse .. pretended serious ones! (NO excuse for that!!)

I can though not really see any harm done in a thread like the auction one that centers all the mockery , the fun and teasing to one thread which can easily be identified as such.

In my opinion it will be better - specially now in the startup phase - to have a few "lively " threads to promote the new forum actually - and to not scare anyone to start a thread on an otherwise "dead" and empty page (I think it already takes some courage to post something like a personal add meant serious and I for one would feel lots better to not be "alone" on this Board)

Plus I would not overestimate the amount of posts over on the personal forum that have been started today - I think we just need a moment or two to play with the new toy before we loose interest again and then it will be handed over to the real purpose ... it was like that with the sexual RP too which was being only a pick-up page at first .. and now developed to exactly what it was meant to be (almost anyway *g*)

I repeat - I fully support Laurel's request to NOT be messing around there - and I really would hate to see it happening to the serious ads, but for one - we will never manage to keep away people making fun or being "impostors" and they aren't necessarily the regulars of Literotica (which would make it easy to identify) and second - just relax and give things a moment or two to calm down .. I think just as all forums this will "regulate" itself...

BTW Gingersnapbaby, I'm not pissed or anything. It's just that people have been asking for a place to post personal ads - because posting them anywhere else on the site gets them slammed & ridiculed - so I wanted to set aside an area for them to do so. I wasn't clear in my original posts, and that was my fault, not yours. No worries!
