Were they making it? Yes or No. So far my research is evenly divided. What do you guys think?

Della Street was a lesbian. Perry Mason was making it with the Inspector Tragg. Everyone know that.

Now that's just plain wrong.

Everybody knows that Perry and Della were bi and when they weren't boinking used to cruise the courthouse bathrooms together looking for a threesome.

Tragg and DA Burger were in a committed relationship.

Glad we cleared that up.

Peace.

If they weren't making it, it wasn't any fault of Della's - she had it bad.

You yo-yo's have very loose strings.

Della and Perry were screwing like a couple wild weasels. Though straight, they did swing some and Della liked to bring Tragg in for some three-way action. Sad to say, but when Mason ended up in a wheelchair and changed his name to Ironsides, she dumped him for DA Burger.

Rumple Foreskin

Yep, I figured they had to be making it. After all, why did they keep sending Paul Drake to Bakersville unless they wanted some boinking on the desk?

I certainly hope they were....

Every Sunday night at 10:30 pm it was the only thing on TV when I was in college in the middle of fucking nowhere.....

You know you are bad off when you start fantasizing about Perry and Della on a Sunday night.....

*sigh*

They sent him there to get the sex toys. Bakersville has the best sex shops

PERR(Y) MASON & D(E)LLA (S)TREET

I would definately say they were. You could tell by the secret looks and the gentle touches!

If you really want the answer, why not get Perry to question the witness (Della)?

Nah.
He was asexual.
She was a dyke....or else they were both in drag.

He wasn't asexual. That's an unfortunate consequence from saving Tokyo from Godzilla.

Two votes for this one.

Another question: Is your opinion based on the TV or the books? I never really watched the show. At some point I read a number of he earlier books - I liked the evocation of the early 1950s in them.

The TV.

I loved the show. Watched it all the time - by choice.

He struck me as the perfect gentleman, but completely passionless. The kind of guy would never have a physical relationship with a woman......or a man......it would mean losing control.

As for Della........she always struck me as a caricature, more of a Queen, than a woman. Maybe it was just me, I don't know.

I still don't think they were doing it. They loved each other. Deeply. But not in that way.

My two ha'porth.

Come on. Did anyone ever see Della Street Type in any episode of Perry Mason?? Tells you right there she was the office shag. Even Paul Drake probably got a piece of that (when he wasn't being cornholed by DA Burger or someone).

See, I always figured Paul Drake was everyone's bitch. Della's included. Can't you see her with a strap-on, and him on his knees...

Okay. I'll stop. But we know Perry liked to put him in the witness stand and break him down into tears before taking him

Most folks around here are skillful writers, so why don’t you make it happen?

And the winner iiiiiiis...

And destroy Earl Stanely Gardner's reputation?

I never really trusted anyone who used three names, you know.

Your Honor, I would like to refute this assertion by my learned, but misinformed colleague. As evidence, I present this:

Please note the cute and young lady behind Mr. Mason (aka Ironsides) as well as the two virile young gentlemen. The evidence would suggest, Your Honor, that the name change and the wheelchair did not lead Della to dump Mr. Mason. To the contrary, he clearly dumped her AND the aging Paul Drake for a much younger (not to mention interracial) trio of, ah-hem, assistants.

In fact, I have to wonder if the girl is even of legal age!

Atually 3113, Paul Drake died mysteriously just prior to the last episode. Also DA Burger died of "Lung cancer" about the same time. I would point out the "Mysterious" and "Lung Cancer" were sanitized, 1950's acronyms for the desease we now know as AIDES. This seems proof positive that both were "Fire Island Fireflys".

As far as Della Street, she was having a secret affair with Judge Carter behind Mason's back, thus leading to the break up.

Hah! Lies and a cover-up! He was blackmailed into changing his name and moving to Argentina. Then he was pronounced "dead." Thus, he couldn't testify on Della's (or his own!) behalf!

ROFL...There's got to be a novel in this someplace.
