perfect pincurls and fantastic finger waves

*rolls on floor laughing*

Are you kidding me?

I'd like to see pics of this on other people, but me myself....well, I get up about 30 minutes before I have to leave the house and can shower and be totally out the door on time.

Yeah, my hair is a work of art. *grin*

I've never had a pincurl or anything of the sort in my life. If my curling iron comes out of the closet once every 6 months, it's a special occassion and I better be getting some for my effort.

*shrugs* I don't have the patience with hair and makeup. I think it comes from being raised with brothers and never really doing "girly" stuff. I am just now (at almost 27 YOA) starting to buy and wear makeup regularly.

I'm just not good at being girly. :)

Most of what she said. :D I'm a simple girl, and it shows.

Pin curls? Ask my mom.

i wear them now, but could use some advice on how to break the curls up gently.

thanks, zam - that books looks interesting. was kind of hoping for an online (read: free) guide. :)

I'm clueless about hair. If I can get mine dry and relatively presentable, I've won for the day. :)

i actually started the pincurls to cut down on styling time (and heat styling) in the morning. 5-10 minutes at night and then i'm good to go the next day.

i love the look of finger waves, but i'm not sure it it will work with bangs...

Oh I like to do ring curlers to my daughter!

She have very long hairs, it look so nice with the curls in them. Its a good way to have curls without damaging our hair.

Dippity Do, lots of upper arm strength and patience!

Seriously, call a cosmetology school in your area and ask if they have any of their old instruction books for sale. It used to be a requirement of licensure to be able to construct a flawless fingerwave and pincurl. Who knows? They may give you an old book on the house!

Another thought is to visit a Kut N Kurl or a Beauty Box or some such institution of old lady hairdos (and don'ts!). I'll bet the farm there are some serious pincurls going on behind closed doors!

The reason their are pigtails dangling from my head is that I HATE to fix my hair.

Although all those links (and hairdos contained therein) seem cute and I wouldn't mind testing them out...I just don't have the patience.

I'm just awaiting the day when my hair is all one length again (read: long) and I can let it dry with my head out the car window on the way to work.

My beauty regimen is truly a sight to behold. ;)

And, yeah, Zam...that's me. Truly, I've found that most men aren't interested in the fact that I know more about most cars, guns and sports than them. It's a little offputting to them it seems. *shrugs* Everything they can do, I can fdo better (including their wives/girlfriends)

Well I think you're awesome ;)

Seen a picture of Betty Page lately? I'm sure you could pull that off, Ruby!

It takes me 5 minutes to sweep my hair across my forehead every day. Because this hair of mine refuses to be straight, the front sweepy part starts to curl up on me and ends up looking like a finger wave. At least, that's what everyone tells me.

I know plenty of people who can hook up some finger waves....My grandmaman has been working hers ever since I can remember....and she still looks good.

finger waves are a piece of cake ... and they must absolutely be 100% dry before combing out . I'll be happy to help if you need ...

I'm about as bad as Simply Southern. If my hair manages to stay in a bun for the day (till I'm off work) then I'm happy. Though I end up having to fix it half a dozen times because it whisps out everywhere. Oh well.
Ruby if the AV's you then you've beautiful hair, be careful with it. Too much heating and treating can hurt it.
My fave easy body trick- multiple tight french braids while its still damp from the shower. Sleep on it, possibly with a "do-rag" on, in the AM unbraid, lightly brush, spritz a bit of hair spray and there you go- soft waves until you wash your hair again.
