Penpals?

So I've been wondering...
Here and other sites, I try an write long paragraphs, decent length letters, discussions and questions about various topics, and frequently get one word or one line responses. Not always, to be sure, but 98% of the time.
I think maybe texting and social media have dulled out conversational abilities? Or maybe just our attention span?

That's why I don't use a smart phone. I see so many people walking, heads down, unaware of everything around them. I see families at dinner in a restaurant, not talking but all on their own phones. I'll be damned if I ever get that way. I'm a respected author of a couple dozen books and I tend to write longer than most, historians tend to do that, lol. And there are some studies that our brains are being rewired to view shorter news clips, pay less attention, as a result of this crappy technology. Just my humble opinion . . . .
