After seven days the Story I submitted is still pending, without explanation, while 72 hours (it's written!) are normally required before a reply.
May I ask:
Why?
Did I do something wrong?

No it's nothing you've done, apparently Laurel reads, or at least skims every story to ensure it is within guidelines. if there are a lot of submissions the time limit goes out of the window.

I know of other sites where they use a group of volunteers to get around this problem but those sites are more restrictive than Lit.

The advice has to be to be patient.

the answer above is correct. competition time means longer waits. also, make sure you don't re-open the story at all. doing so will kick you back to the back of the queue.

i find it severely irritating.

but we have to deal with it i spose it helps me practice patience...
