Hi all! I'm sure this is already answered somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know the timeline for a pending submission to be approved? Mine have been pending for about a week, and I wasn't sure if this was normal. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Lately it seems that five days or so is not unusual for a story to wait. A week seems a little long but not unusual. If you have been checking and clicking the "pending" link, you may be sending your story to the back of the queue. Try leaving it alone for a day or two if necessary and then check. Also, the Earth Day contest is starting this week, so that may play into any delays.

Thanks

Oh, thank you so much for the response. I'll leave them alone and see what happens. :) I understand if the contest is going on, they're prob. pretty busy. Thanks again!

Since it's your first story, it may take a while to be posted. My first one took about a week to post, but subsequent stories took less and less time.

PL gave the right advice. Just leave it alone and wait for it to post. Each time you click that little blue "pending," it slows down the process.

Well, PennLady, it's got to be the Earth Day contest because my latest chapter to Only You took six full days before it appeared. It just appeared this morning.

Granted, it's a rather long chapter (18k plus words), but I've submitted chapters of 20K to 24K before and it never took this long to appear.

Oh, and the 1-Bombing trolls are out in force, too. :/

I'm not sure the contest is a factor, at least not yet, since it doesn't start until Thursday.

For quite some time now, maybe a year, it seems like five-seven days is about par for posting a story, even between contests. At one point last year, Laurel posted that it was taking longer to get stories posted because there were more submission but still only her to vet them. So I actually think it's a result of more submissions than the length of any particular submission.

Sorry to hear about the trolls. Best bet is to ignore them.

It might be, though. A lot of authors pre-post for contests so that they have it up the first day. So Laurel may already be inundated with contest submissions.

She may, but my larger point was that even without contests, stories have been taking up to a week to post in the last several months or year.

I've been seeing quite a few posts about that. There was a time when my average posting time was about two days. I guess I shouldn't hope for that again.

I think the turnaround time for known writers is shorter, but perhaps not quite that short.
