Pending Issues

I've read the other threads, but I think my situation is different enough that I figured I'd ask for advice while I wait.

I had a story submitted in September 2021 and then 4 months later it was rejected for containing underage stuff (which it didn't as it is set in college). I went and reviewed it and only noted an ambiguous line that someone likely reported (To clarify what I think it was because all the characters are in college. There is a hypnosis challenge that involves an orgasm and I just say influencers, which could mean underage. I changed the line to college influencers). I changed the line to clarify the age was a college person and explained that in the comments of the resubmission. And then I waited.

After a week, it had not been touched and still sat in pending. And yes I've posted 50+ stories on here, I know the difference between pending and submitted and draft. I also know not to touch it once it is pending. So it has been pending since Feb 22.

So I took another approach and posted the sequel chapter which I was planning on doing before the first chapter was taken down. I thought maybe I'd draw attention to the first chapter and hopefully resolve and have both published. That didn't work either. Now that has been pending since March 5.

I've always had max 3 days for stories to get approved and I don't know if this whole underage thing has just completely blacklisted me now or this specific story. So I have no idea what to do.

I have PMed Laurel earlier this morning with no response. I kept seeing that you have to enable PMs, is that still applicable with the forum update? I'm not sure if she will get back to me or not, but besides waiting for a response or resolution, is there anything else I can try?

Thanks!

Yours isn't the only story in this time frame. I submitted one on Feb. 28, US evening time, and it's been stuck in Pending ever since. I'd tagged it to hopefully be my second 'Pink Orchid' story, but, well, alas, that list got posted today (and I really felt THIS was the much better story for that than the one that's listed). I've PMed Laurel, and I'm not aware of much else that can be done.

I've published 40 stories and followed the same procedure as usual, I submitted a .doc file but I've done that for 38 of my 40 submissions (so, please, no one comment on that.) And it's always been two to four days, a couple of times even quicker. This is my first one that's fallen into the twilight zone. My previous story hasn't had great scores, but, um, no one's complained about it :(

This is happening to lots of folks right now. I'm not harping on you for submitting a file, and not everyone who has submitted a file has had this sort of delay. I suspect it's more a matter of unfortunate timing; Laurel is likely getting slammed with PMs ever since the forums & boards converted to XF. Good luck. 🤞

As for the OPs story that was rejected after being accepted, some reader(s) might have reported it thinking that there was underage sex involved.

As for the others, Lexx might just be right about what's happening. Things do slip between the cracks.

I doubt you'll get black-listed, and I also doubt you'll get a direct rely. Your story fix will be treated as an edit, which are low priority at the best of times, and right now, evidenced by multiple threads, new stories can take a while to get through. So it's not good times for an edit.

I've had an edit sit for a couple of weeks now, to remove a sentence that inadvertently referenced a character removed from an earlier draft. At the same time, I had a very short piece go up in 48 processing hours, so there's still movement at the station.

I think there's a big backlog of edits, but it's nothing personal. You're just in a very long queue.
