"pending approval"

How long does it generally take for new stories to be approved? Thanks!

The time varies anywhere from a few hours (usually only for contest stories) to up to a week or slightly more.... you can always see by going to the submissions / view page... usually takes about 3 views

Re: How Long?

It's been my experience that the more you watch it, the longer it takes; at least from a subjective point of view. I would say the average is between 4 and 7 days but I've seen longer and I've seen shorter.

Make sure your manuscript is clean. Make sure it is in the format most readily accepted by Literotica. The dirty parts have to fall within Literotica's guidelines. If the edges are 'blurred' a bit, approval might take longer. And if there are no dirty parts, you've misunderstood the mission of this particular website.

But don't, whatever you do, click on that 'Pending' link, or you'll put yourself at the back of the queue again!

My alter ego had one post in three days, week before last. My own latest is coming up to a week (and shows five views).

I just had a story posted after 10 days pending. The comp must be really slowing things down.

Hold in there :rose:

One thing I know... competition stories get first look... and probably rightly so since they have a short window for submission.

I have two stories in it .... one was approved in less than 24 hours... the other I'm not sure about.. submitted on Friday... and couldn't check till monday.. when it was approved.

I, personally, prefer to write for the contests. You get LOTS more comments and e mail than regular stories. But then, that's me.

Most regular stories seem to take about a week (give or take). It mostly depends on how busy Laurel is.

There are a lot more factors than just how busy Laurel is.

As already mentioned, Contest Entries have priority because they're time sentsitive.

Butt here is also the category and number of other submissions pending to consider as well.

Laurel tries to maintain a "something for everyone everyday" mix in each days posting without any one category or author dominating the new stories list. Also since there are now more categories than slots on the new stories list only the very busiest categories are likely to get postings every day and some categories only get posted once a week or so.

It all depends on what Laurel needs to keep each day's offering varied and balanced, and what the authors are submitting. I don't think holding some stories back for a "dry spell" is much of a concern now, but that used to be a consideration when Lit was only posting ten or twelve submissions a day -- but there are still peaks and valleys in the numbers of submisions to smooth out if not actual "dry spells" where no stories are submitted for one or two days.

I don't envy Laurel's task and have given up trying to predict what it takes to get a story posted quickly -- It used to be that a story submitted on Thursday was a virtual lock to be posted on Friday or Saturday but a story posted on Sunday would almost always take longer, but the dynamics have changed considerably with the increased number of submissions.

Dear BBd,
Usually three to five days. Up to a week if the editor is up on the rack getting her oil changed.
Helpfully,
MG
Ps. Welcome and woo woo woo.
Pps. Are you, perchance, knowledgable garderobe-wise?

Just curious how someone who joined post-2002 would be expected to know what MathGirl said on the subject three years ago? It's all new to the newbies, eh?

Heh. I made the mistake of clicking the Pending link. heheh It's been a little over a year since I submitted anything for approval. Right now Masked in Rio has had five look see's on it.

I hope it gets put up soon. hehehehe I'm sort of twitching about it. The last stuff I put up was The Kiefer collection. Masked in Rio is a Mickey Rourke series.

It seems stories are getting more views these days before they get posted. A month ago, mine were getting 2 or 3 before being posted. Now it's up to 10 or more.

it can always be worse....

this is what I heard when some of you were worrying about how long it takes to post a story. I have been working on a story for a week. Can't believe how much it takes for a story put together correctly. I have posted on many stories written by you authors. You all did a fine job. So, I have been trying to collect input on mine...

my point here is that atleast you, who are waiting to get posted, are finished and finished with good grammar....
so, in all - it can always be worse!

I only started here a year ago, myself, (Mar. 31/04) but that's no excuse.

What else is your Time Machine for -- killing your grandfather while he's still a bachelor?

Wheeee :nana: :nana:

Masked in Rio got Approved!! Yeah Baby.. *dancin' Dancin!!*

I'm feeling good now.

It must be a rough week at Literotica. I put something up on March 29th and it hasn't even been looked at yet (April 3rd). By the time it gets posted, I'll have forgotten I sent it in.

Not complaining. I certainly know that Lit is inundated with stories. But from an inividual's point of view, it seems a long time.

Good luck in the reading/voting process. And if you're planning on hanging out in the AH (I'm pretty sure I've seen you here several times) it might be wise to post a link to it in your sig-line. Just a thought.

saw the title

When I saw this title - I thought...lucky you! Atleast you got to that point. My point here is that it is never as bad as you think it is....there are always writers in worse situations!

In my experience, it takes... Forever or never, depending how you C it.
I wrote a beginning for a fanfic story almost a year ago, & for the longest time, never saw it approved.

The only refernce I ever saw made to it was on my writer/author Profile page. Then, about 4 months ago, it even disappeared from there. I have seen no mention of it any place on the site.

If it was on your member page, it was approved unless you're referring to the page that shows the pending stories. I don't know why it would be deleted though.
