I was just thinking about this watching one of the GIFs in another thread.

The feeling is different. Anal sex usually provides a tighter entry than vaginal sex meaning that there is constant feedback from the tight anal ring on the dick. I would assume that a woman pegging her significant other would know for sure that she is fully inside her partner once she feels her partners skin on her lower stomach.
