I've finally decided to get me a professional webpage on a professional server, instead of my usual free accounts on Angelfire and the like, where you get 57 pop-ups a minute telling you to buy emoticons and sanitary pads and books and travels and pregnancy tests.

I signed up for Resurser.com, and learned that I must get me a PayPal-account.

I signed up for a PayPal-account, and was told that I was an "Unverified User". To be verified, I had to enter a credit card number.

My bank has this special feature where I can create a cyber-card, to which I can transfer the amount I need to pay, and let it exist for about one month, and after the payment has been completetes, this card will disintegrate. It's to protect my real bank account from getting pillaged. Very handy - except when dealing with these things, obviously.

I filled out all the details, and hit all the buttons, and PayPal has registered that I have payed $3,59 to Resurser.com, but I'm STILL an Unverified User, even though I did click the enrollment button and all - and when I try to log in to my Resurser.com-account, I get a message telling me there's something wrong with my login.

Is there something wrong, or am I just in too much of a hurry? Do I need to wait a few days for the people behind the machines to register my payment and OK my accounts and logins?

PayPal also claims to have charged $1,59 for opening my account with them, so maybe I don't have enough money on this cyber-card to pay for my webpage? What happens then?

Answers! Now! Please! Do I really have to wait until tomorrow to find out?

I can't imagine how my forefathers managed in the days when you had to wait months before receiving a letter...

If you are still having problems Flicka, you might go to your bank and see about getting a secured card. Most u.s. banks will issue a debit card against your account that works like a credit card. Hope it helps.

Glad you brought this up. I have been trying to get a paypal account for days. I have tried different credit cards, all of which should work, I have double checked the EXACT address on my bill, I have read all the directions and still cannot be verified. It is frustrating as hell.

If I make any progress I will let you know. :rose:

I may or may not have had a PayPal account for some time.

If I try to use PayPal, I do not have an account. If I try to open an account, I already have an account. I have called and talked to PayPal. They claim that what is happening to me could not possibly happen and would I please go away?

I went away. I do not use PayPal.

Me too. Same thing.

Svenska, have you ordered and cinformed your deal with Resurser? If not, could I recommend a few alternatives? It seems that you pay alot more than I do, don't get anything for it, and have problem paying anyway. From what I can see at their site that they offer, there are better web hotels.

Ok, I think I may have the answer...:D

I was told unverified meant that I was not a U.S. credit card holder, or from a U.S. institution or a U.S. resident. I emailed them about it, but I can't remember which of those is the right answer, but it has something to do with not living in the US and being able to verify my details through the normal chanels. It does not affect your pay pal account or your ability to pay.

But if I'm wrong...:p

BTW I found it very frustrating to set paypal up!!!!

I will try calling them and see what the hell. I haven't even 'set up' the account yet and its already frustrating. LOL, are you trying to tell me there's going to be more hell to go through! :( So much for free trade.

lol

Damn paypal!!

Maybe it is because I'm not a US citizen I couldn't verify my account... I was forced to use direct debit or bidpay.

Good ol' ebay

The joys of the internet :)

(two edits... not looking good lol)

I use two paypal accounts for selling my books.

The USA one is 'certified' (It means they verified my address). I have trouble logging in more times than not.

The UK one is 'uncertifed'. I never have problems with that one.

I use various other methods for purchasers to use, similar to paypal. They are usually more of a menace to me and the purchaser:) Phoning or writing to get queries answered is usually time wasted.

It works! Wooo-hooo!:nana:

Now for the building!:)

...and then I have to figure out how to set up a monthly payment plan. This whole PayPal/cyber-credit-cards-that-dissolve-after-use is just too complicated.

PayPal obviously came through, cause now I can log in to my account on Resurser.com.

Only problem is - it's very tricky to use! I go to the section called File Manager, where the designers have never heard of user-friendly interface. I upload my pre-made pages from my computer, and trouble one arises.

I can't move all of the images into the image folder I've created at the same time, but I have to do it one by one. Tedious.

I try to open the image folder, and trouble 2 immediately shows:

I can't open any folder. I can delete them, rename them, copy them, or give access to them, but I can't open the bloody things!

I try to take a look at my index-page, but there's no background and no image on it. I click Edit File to see if perhaps I need to update the links a bit. I edit them, and look again.

Still no background, and no image.

I try to visit my page from an outsiders' POV, ie by typing in the address - and I get a page telling em it can't be found.

I'm normally good at web design, but this has me beat. I need a translator. Or should I perhaps ask for my money back?
